Laura & I went shopping for stuff to fill our hungry tummies, had stuff I could've made but was too lazy to cook, I spotted Lindsay Lohan's ever appealing mug on a magazine cover. I dunno why I bought it but I did and an hour or two after I got home I cracked through and gave the situation a read...
...and now I'm kinda feeling the urge to goto her MySpace page and sending her a *HUG ATTACK*
They seem to cheer people up on my friendslist whether or not I say anything else with it when folks're down.
My overall opinion of Lindsay has always been twofold: she's hot and she's a kook. That 2nd bit isn't such a bad thing really; I don't really know any sane people. My friends are all nutjobs to one extent or another and some of them are really amazing people. Even
Warlock...but don't tell him I said that. I haven't seen all of her stuff, mostly The Parent Trap, she did a Herbie film, and Mean Girls. Hasn't been a pressing need but I figure one of these days I'll look up her other stuff sometime I swing by Blockbuster and not just the one she plays a stripper in...
...hey, I am male. A naked Lindsay is a good Lindsay in my book. Not that she's not great dressed but...
*ahem*
Moving right along.
The article in US Weekly, haven't read this title in ages and it doesn't seem quite like I remember it, focuses on her recent breakup with Samantha Ronson. While I don't follow Lindsay's life so much, amazing how much I stumble across her by accident online though, I never quite got the attraction with this DJ. She looks like a drowned river rat...but looks ain't everything. As to the article, other than some little snippets and quotes it's mostly rumors off the grapevine countered by Lindsay's retelling of events. Well, the rumor part seems to be summaries from multiple sources but whatever; it doesn't pain a good picture.
If you take the rumor part as fact that Lindsay's gone over the deep end. If you take her side as fact then it's not much better but she's a bit saner and just confused and stressed. In either case I don't much care. As with any celeb I like it's not as though I'm going to be walking down the street hoilding hands with them. Not overly emotionally involved with their lives. Wish them well and watch the drama enfold is the best I can do.
Having had to deal with the excessive drama from everybody I know and their friends, it gets a bit repetitive after awhile no matter who's involved in what.
Lindsay's career has followed the predictable curve os pretty much any young star since my early teens. Drew Barrymore being a classic case: childhood roles, early teen stuff, excessive partying involving drinks & drugs way too early or wat too often, some point of trying to shake the childhood image with much more hardcore adult expression (being male I don't have a huge problem with that as it often involves a lot of nudity) and of course hanging out with poor role models...
...Paris Hilton being the ultimate biggie. I cannot wait until it's legal to nuke her from orbit.
Then comes the crash. With the possible exception of Christina Aguilera, who seemed to avoid the crashing part so far as I know, Lindsay has followed the set pattern for all childhood stars since time began. At the moment she's just kinda teetering on the edge.
Hopefully she'll turn out okay. Drama's gonna make that difficult, it always does, but one can always hope she'll find her way through that. Just gotta accept people are gonna be saying lousy s--t (hee hee) about her and if she's got any sense at all she'll ignore it.
One problem I had with the article was all the s--t, f--k, etc. If you're gonna do that you might as well just say shit and fuck. I mean, when they go f--king it's just so silly.
Was a little surprised Lindsay's only 22 years old. I'd never given her age any thought before but seeing it in print like this just kinda took me off guard.
Best o' luck lady. Want you making more movies so I hope things work out.
