Amanda (cookies!!)

8:53 PM 3/28/08 · After quite a bit of hearing about her and long periods of waxing fancy, I finally met
Warlock's lady love today. It was far overdue and I'm glad it finally got done...because frankly it was almost beginning to creep me out.

Ya say something like that it almost demands an explanation.

Hold onto something.

For the last fairly long stretch of time, wouldn't put a number to it but let's say about when they started dating, he's been acting really weird. There's a little extra bounce in his step, he's got that twinkle in his eyes, he's not the usual Mr. GrumpyPants (don't say it) he usually is, nowhere near as abusive to me as he used to be, and I swear there are days he actually comes to work with a smile on his face.

Frankly, it's freaking me out!

Big ol' geek that I am...my initial theory was that he was a pod person. That the original
Warlock was a dried up husk somewhere and this was the rather perky vegetable that had taken his place. Just enough like him that to the casual observer he might seem to actually be him but not enough to fool me.

Rather than do the practical thing, which would involve a machete and a lot of hacking, I went with theory #2. Admittedly, it's not as fun as the one I'd gone with...and it meant I wouldn't get to go with the machete approach (Aw phooey!) but I suppose sensible isn't necessarily a bad way to go.

Ah, lamour!

Mostly all I knew of his lady love was what I got from him, snippets I picked up from Kendra, and a little off ye olde grapevine. Don't quite have as much connection to it as I used to but people still feel something of a seeming compulsion to just tell me stuff. Sadly I don't see folks as much as I used to...hence the limited range of what I've got access to.

I basically sussed out that she was wonderful and that a number of
Warlock's supposedly close friends should be locked in a very small room and then have it constrict around them until they were reduced to a puddle...

...and that's about all I've got to say about that.

After work today (Friday from my perspective)
Warlock asked me to hang out for a bit to keep him company until Amanda popped up to get him. I was eager to finally get a look at her, having expected to not see her until BayCon, and see just what had made him go all sorts of giddy...

...though I hadn't entirely let go of the pod person theory as yet.

We went to Walgreen's, finishing touches for
Alex's birthday present, and then wandered back to outside of work and talked and whatnot and continued to wait. After a bit she finally came into view.

I'll keep this simple:
  • Pigtails
  • Green tennis shoes
  • Little sweater type cap
  • Freckles
  • One of those perfect smiles

  • I wouldn't say she's attractive...because as a rule any woman that is involved with one of my friends gets automatically lumped into the lumpy guy category and is therefore, so far as my brain will allow, only technically female. As I refuse to acknowledge that lumpy guys, only being technically female, are attractive it just sort of follows that I can't see Amanda as being even remotely such. That said...she does have one very appealing quality.

That woman makes a damned good chocolate chip cookie!

Oh my fucking Gods...it was like a little burst o' happy from my tastebuds and on down the length of all my nerve endings.

    I may've vibrated.

She also gets bonus points for having more than one to spare for me.

10:22 PM 3/30/08 · Random note, clearly after the fact, she reminds me of someone. Don't think it's anyone I've met...but it just sorta hit me. Probably it'll come to me at some random moment when I'm not expecting it.
