Today shall be a good day!

Got to the bus ontime today without a hitch but it was what happened onboard that really got that extra spring in my step.

Bus driver with a positive attitude is always a good thing!
There's a guy that's always on my bus that gets off the same stop as I do who strikes me funny. After we're off the bus he walks back the way we came from. I know from times I've missed my first bus that he goes about a mile back to another bus stop and waits for the next bus to come by, which is the one I'm on cuz I missed the first one.

He does this every morning.

Kinda odd but he's always got a smile for me.

Anyway, so I tend to sit near the back of the bus (so much for "having come so far") on the way to work, for the same reason I sit near the front on the way home, because when the bus gets to where I'm going that's the side closest to the direction I'll be going from there. Recently the original driver for my bus, who was there when I started this route way back 4 years, returned and he's the most pleasant of them all. I mean, he greets everyone warmly, just exhudes happy, and is just so damned decent...which you really appreciate when you're ½ awake in the morning.

We're approaching my stop and I pull the cord and head for the door. A voice comes over the speaker system and says "We regret to inform everyone that we no longer stop at the California Ave stop."

That gives me pause and I'm leaning back to see through the front window for construction or anything up ahead but there's nothing.

So, that other guy I mentioned at the beginning of this post comes to my door and we're waiting to see if the bus will stop where we want it to or not when the speakers start up again, "Would the passenger in the brown hood with the black bag over his shoulder please sit down? You are not permitted to leave the bus."

Lots of heads start turning around as the other passengers try to figure out who the voice is talking about and I just sorta facepalm because I'm the only person on the bus this describes. Leaning back again, around the guy next to me who is trying very hard not to laugh, I give the rearview mirror my most mixed amused/WTF expression I can manage...and then turn back to the door.

Lots of people are smiling at this point.

Speaker comes on again, "Sir? You're not going to make me call security are you?"

I lost it about this point, laughing my ass off, as the speakers exploded in laughter, as did most of the passengers. Got off and walked to the Caltrain station with a huge grin.

Good times.

I'm a big believer in omens and thus I knew today would be, no matter what else happened, a good day. Hopefully this will bear out as I've got dinner plans with
Ella after work. Suffice to say, despite numerous assurances that she's a good girl, she's a lot like me so I was expecting it to be fun even before the bus ride this morning.

Whee!
