9:55 PM 1/24/08 · There's an art to spellcasting that I think many miss out on due to all the books and the ritual and the altars and all the other trappings. Truthfully, anyone can do it and it's not even that hard. It's keeping a measure of control that's essential and hard to keep in mind.
I've never quite forgiven myself for El Niño...
...of course, there's a very persuasive argument to the practice of magik being as much truth as possibly a situation of highly fortunate circumstances. Might've happened anyway but there's no way to say for sure.
It was last Friday on my lunch break and I was looking down, from the 48th floor, to where the ice skating rink had been in December. Right then it just struck me how cool it would've been to have it snow. Not just in San Francisco but everywhere throughout the whole Bay Area. I mean, it's not like I drive anymore and really...what's the worse that could happen?
I still had about 45 minutes lunch so while I was chewing and drinking I started mapping out the spell in my head. For the record, I don't subscribe to any one particular doctrine or craft...I think they're all equally valid so why limit myself? That and I've always just had a natural knack for moving and manipulating energy.
Some people collect stamps...while I...
...okay, El Niño was a bit of a goof but dammit sometimes even my infinite patience hits a wall and I overdue it.
The mapping was a bit more specific than I usually go. I was figuring it might be more fun, and broadly effecting, to write it up, post it, and then link it some key places around LJ like a meme for other people to post to their journals and so on. Whether they practiced or not, just the general spread of it would've been so nice as to making it happen...
...but when I got off lunch it was really busy at work so even though I'd mapped the thing and probably could've typed it up in less then 5 minute...there just wasn't enough time.
Still, that didn't stop me from giving it a shot on my own.
By the time I got home last Friday evening I pretty much figured it was the silliest of a number of my silly notions. Sure, it's snowed in the Bay Area before but it hardly ever sticks and even when it does it's not even an inch of powder.
It was a 3 day weekend and I did little if any ration thinking through most of it. Didn't even watch the news until Monday night when I got a very pleasant surprise.
It snowed!
Didn't just snow a little but all over the place. It's still snowing even now; got a report in Pacifica on the way home today. Unfortunately it kinda missed the middle of the Bay Area and just hit the surrounding areas. Oakland and Santa Cruz mainly...which may not seem like much but they got enough to build snowmen!
Several inches of fluffy throwable goodness!!
Damn, I really should've sent the meme. We could all be slamming each other with snowballs right now if I had.
