...but they're always there when you need them.

7:46 PM 12/5/07 · On the way home Tuesday I fell asleep on the train. This isn't unusual, I usually fall asleep on the train. However, I normally wake up 3 or 4 stops ahead of mine and this time I did not.
I haven't been sleeping very well of late.
When I woke up I looked out the window and didn't recognize what I saw. There's a couple points along the way where it's impossible to tell where you are but this was different. I could clearly see where I was and couldn't place it to an exact memory. So, I asked the guy seated in front of me, he told me, and I booked for the doors...
...and stepped out at the San Antonio stop.
One stop past my own.
Truth is when I started this commute I wound up here a few times. It's not an equal distance from my place and it's further away from El Camino to boot. Back when I used to regularly walk from the train station to home, rather than take the bus as is my norm now, it took almost twice as long as it did from my stop.
Of course, recent months have provided and alternative to the lengthy walk. Rasputin Music, which is right next door to a former TREX hangout, took on

niveK as an employee. He kept asking me to visit as he was so much closer to where I live now but I never had...until that night. I know the area vaguely from previous passing through so was headed towards Rasputin's by way of the shopping center across the street.
Pretty decent spot. May do some of my XMAS shopping there seeing as it's so close. Anyway, I was just about right across the street from where his store was when I spotted a Burger King.
...too...beautiful...for...words...
...should've...taken...a...picture...for...a...postcard...
What with either shift in my tastebuds or a radical shift in their ingredients, I've fundamentally cut McDonald's out of my food intake cuz it's got a decided stank nastiness to it lately that does not agree with my delicate palette. Burger King still works for me though but for some odd reason their outlets have become much harder to find. Counting this one, I can only think of four in the entire Bay Area that I know the locations of, contrasted with the 20 or so I used to know about.
I called

niveK and then walked into paradise...with a decided 49ers football theme. He eventually called me back and then came over to join. Amidst our little chat time he proposed that if I usually got down here around this time he'd be more than willing to give me a ride home. Offer was good for me as we share the same workdays.
I go a little out of my way, there's a Burger King right nearby, I don't have to take the bus and I get to see

niveK on a regular basis.
Call me a simple person but for me this is bliss!
Didn't have a problem with my sleep today and I went straight to his work without hitting BK. A very hot lil' purple headed girl checked my bag shortly after I got inside, they do that there, and I went off to find

niveK. Finding someone in any store is a lot simpler than you might think, especially when they have aisles. Helps if you're very visually oriented, doesn't hurt that I've got a knack for finding things, as you just gotta skim to the left and the right in a single sweep and take in everything you see as fast as you see it.
Seems like a lot of people have more of a tendency to see things and then it takes a few seconds to register. This occasionally happens to me too but that's usually only when I see something that isn't actually there.
Post for another time. No, wait, I've posted about that before. Oh well, good luck finding it!
So I get to the very last row, least I think it was (Rasputin's got a really odd layout), when I found the right spot but not

niveK. Actually spotted her just above shelves, which is tricky as she's so damned short, but it was

Kendra. I don't know why it is but I always expect her to be taller than she actually is. I've known this tiny, syrupy voiced, adorable creature for what seems like ages. Almost as long as I've known

Warlock, he used to room in a place she lived. She's always been the same height...there were years of growth spurts in there that just never happened with her.
If I didn't know better I'd swear she was born this size!
Naturally, after telling her this (cuz that's just how I am), she was surprised. Told

niveK, who just turned up, but he just gave her an odd look, gave me an odd look, then shrugged it off. Probably didn't think it was any big thing, I've mentioned this to him before.
Almost didn't get a ride,
![](http://pics.livejournal.com/black_beast/pic/000sdc4h)
niveK had to pick up
![](http://pics.livejournal.com/black_beast/pic/000qxgsy)
Anna from San Jose and wasn't sure he could give me a ride...but then he shook that off; a promise and all that. Plus, I'm only a 5 minute drive from there so it wasn't too far out of his way. Other than

Kendra going on about me smoking which she's convinced I do (though I think she's not all that serious about it) and my saying no with
![](http://pics.livejournal.com/black_beast/pic/000sdc4h)
niveK backing me...it was a pretty uneventful ride.
That is the one drawback to our deal.

niveK's car reeks, to someone with my sensitive nose, of pot. He's got the medical marijuana thing going for him, regardless of what you may feel the legality of it is, and he tends to smoke in his vehicle on breaks. Naturally the smell is everywhere and in everything...it's a thick smell.
Actually it's not that bad...diluted by time. Fresh it's just horrid.
