8:16 PM 1/13/07 · Friday at work was pretty uneventful, as in completely dead, and afterwards I swung through San Mateo and nearly froze to death. My monthly swing by to the comic shop there went well (huge haul of $164) and as I was finishing up at the register
Warlock &
Alex walked in. A bit of silly banter back and forth, accused
Warlock of stalking me and he said he forgot to stab me at work today, and out I went...
...for some reason
Alex's appearance struck me funny. I don't know why this particular time hit me in the way it did but he kinda looks a bit like me and a bit like
Warlock. Like if you meshed us together he'd be the result.
Kind of a love child.
Ew...
Moving right along!
Hit Burger King after the comics, kind of a tradition, and chowed down while I read some of what I had. Was in a bit of a time crunch as I wanted to get home in time to see NUMB3RS...which I did but unfortunately I got to the train station about 40 minutes early. We've got that whole arctic coldburst of air in the Bay Area right now and I am so not a fan of any kinda not warm situation.
Basically I did a bunch of bouncing up and down and pacing over 50 yards while trying to generate heat. A nice trick that always works, put your hands under your shirt and on your shoulders; can usually only do one at a time. Heat rises and short of your head...that's the hottest place that's still under clothes.
Saturday I'd planned on cleaning but that didn't go as planned and I found more ants; not many but more in a single area than I'm comfortable with. Beginning to wonder if what I've been perceiving as continued dehydration is entirely all of the problem...there's a heaviness in the upper back of my throat that's painful when I swallow. Only time I've had that problem before was when I was using a lot of bug spray a couple years back. The reason I'm not noticing so much of how heavy the doses I'm spraying now is probably because when I'm sick my sense of smell goes away.
11:47 PM 1/13/07 · While probably not the best idea, I'm hitting the shower, shaving, and getting all the little things I need to for Sunday after I get up in the morning. Kinda tight scheduling as
Raven's going to be getting up here around 11am, and she may just show up early for all I know, but I need to goto bed now. Tempted to shave myself down first, now, but I'd have to go outside to get to the main house and it's fucking cold out there! I've had my heater cranked inside all day and it's just a smidge under warm inside...if that gives you any sense of what I'm dealing with here.
It'll probably be extremely cold in the morning too but I am going out for stuff so I'll just cope then. No coping now...just unconciousness as soon as I coccoon myself.
6:27 PM 1/14/07 · Got a bit of a later start than I'd intended, even though I did wake up around 8am, but things worked out well enough for the schedule I worked out. Unfortunately that didn't pan out as well as I'd hoped anyway.
Raven was supposed to get here around 11am, an hour before
Cracky·McRib, so we could hang and catch up and stuff...but she was strangely absent. Was beginning to take that as a bad omen as he wasn't around when I expected him. We'd discussed Noon ish but at about 12:15 I was thinking he might not be coming by. Fortunately, I'm a terribly patient type so I gave him till 12:45 then I'd find something else to do; he showed up at 12:33.
Made the meeting in plenty of time, even with the brief and oh so not healthy food stop at 7·11, and that was nice. Much talk and stuff, differences in venues and other concerns...quite a few giggles, and we pretty much wrapped stuff up around 4:45ish. During the meeting I shared comics with
Brian's kid...which led to an interesting meme the kid did recently (he's got an LJ but I'm not telling) and I was setting straight on the Captain America/Hank Pyn dynamic. Somewhere during the midst of our chat during a lengthy break we managed to discuss why he's so short, if he could touch the ceiling, and that he was my Dad...
...that last one was kinda silly. Somebody brought fudge and I got down on my knees and asked if I could have some in a very childlike joke and the lady asked is it was okay with my parents and I looked up at the kid, who was only taller than me cuz I was on my knees, and said "Dad, can I have some fudge?" Kid was taken aback a bit but then patted my head and said "Go right ahead son".
Brian wasn't actually at the meeting, the kid had a chaperone, and we both got an odd look when he was leaving and I said "Bye Dad" and he waved back and went "You have fun on your sleepover son".
Just classic!
Spent the next two hours with
niveK, reading comics and eating at Wendy's; they have the best shakes & fries but the rest of their food isn't quite cooked. That or it cools fast. Anyway, the food was good and the time was good. Tried calling
Raven from there but only got the voicemail and I left something kinda non·descript. On the way home we swung by Blockbuster so I could return the DVDs I had and picked up 4 more...
...and now I'm home. When I called this morning, before leaving with
Cracky·McRib, I got
Raven's sister and she told me that she'd not come home from the previous night. Figuered her plans from the previous day had run into overtime but there was still a chance she might be on her way. Left a note on my door, just so she knew I'd not forgotten about her, and kept an eye open for bikes up until
Cracky·McRib showed; not a sign of her.
Still, it was a good day.
11:02 AM 1/15/07 · One odd little thing from yesterday was that
niveK told me that he'd been in contact with Missy, shortly after my mentioning that someone I met reminded me of her in bad circumstances. He asked if I wanted him to say hi to her from me but had to jostle me a bit to get me going. I'm not entirely sure why but the mention of a close friend of mine still talking to her struck me dumb...
...this may seem odd to some but among the people that actually know me there's about an even split of the ones that think I talk incessantly and the ones that think I hardly talk at all.
I'm honestly not sure what I'd say to her if the opportunity presented itself. She's one of those I've marked as dead to me due to the fact that she did something much worse than threaten me before she left town. I process stuff fast, for the most part, so while I'm not mad anymore I'm just as cool as having as little to do with her as possible. At the last convention I was informed she was moving back to California and I was a little worried but calmed down when I heard it was to Sacremento.
It's a storm on the horizon kinda thing. Doesn't really bother you but you're still antsy about lightning strikes. Despite her assurances she's changed, which is an amusing story in itself, her actual presence worries me for not earthly reason I can name.
Kinda funny as we used to be very tight...
...or maybe that's why. I know her too well.
10:38 PM 1/15/07 · This may have officially been the most boring weekend ever. If it weren't for that meeting I'd jump off the roof. Not going to though...both cuz it's too cold outside and the roof isn't really that high off the ground anyway.
10:24 AM 1/16/2007 · Wanna know the real kicker to this? Both de Boss type person &
Warlock called in sick today and there's a shitload of work from all the folks that couldn't get anyone to bind their stuff as we weren't here yesterday. I did nothing at all productive yesterday, other than sit on my butt and watch several marathons, and if I'd known this was gonna be the situation I'd've happily come into work yesterday to take care of this mess.
There oughtta be a rule you can't call in sick after a 3 day weekend!
