Fate is fucking with me again...

...although, as it happens, not just with me.

It started like this:

No worries, after watching this while waiting for the bus I quickly put some lip-balm on.

Before I'd left home the lady that was gonna interview called me and told me she was going to be running a bit late. No specifics, not that I required any, and had moved the interview time back a bit. As it happens I was having an issue at the bus stop. Buses are supposed to come by every 15 minutes but I'd been there like 25 at the time I made the video. Then finally a bus came into view...

...except it was flashing a sign that read "Coach Following".

Argh!

Basically means that for whatever reason the bus flashing the sign is not gonna stop. It was an entire other 15 minutes before an actual bus showed and by the time I got to the Caltrain station the train I needed to take was gone.

Interview was in San Francisco, which is where I worked my last job. While the commute is about 2 hours I'd forgotten that it's good to leave about an hour more extra time available for little travel upsets like this.

Anyway, I called her and she told me not to worry about it as she was also running a bit behind too.

So, the train arrives, I get on and I'm on my way. Timing was gonna be tight but with the newly agreed upon interview time, workable. Was still kicking myself for being late in the first place cuz that just does not leave a good impression.

Given it's not a good idea to ever leave your mobile device in anything but mute at any official meeting, I'd already turned all the sound off before I'd left my place. So it wasn't until I was about ½ way there that I noticed I missed a call from my interviewer and that she'd left me a text.

Whoops!

Turns out that on the way to where I was to be interviewed, she also doesn't live in San Francisco, her car died and she was stuck by the side of the road. We were both good sports about it, I've got a new interview scheduled for Tuesday, and I figured since I had to pass by there on the way home, I'd see if I could hang out with some friends of mine.

Hooked up with two old friends, took one to Denny's for all you can eat pancakes... which goes a long way to explaining why I still feel heavily weighed down several hours after finally getting home.

fate's a bastard, interviews
