Holy crap, its October

So its 10:36pm, I should do some reading but I'm not feeling it yet. I've been home since 6:30 and besides cleaning the bathroom I havn't done much in the way of productivity. The time does fly.
We were in Groningen this weekend, one night. It was fun, except for some crazy mystery illness the woke me up Friday morning and is still wearing off. I was supposed to guide my first tour on Friday, but felt terrible, puked twice in the canal, got to work, told my boss it wasn't happening, left, puked in a construction site, cleaned it up, went home, and felt like crap all day puking occasioanlly to boot. Now I'm not sure what the puking was from, but the pain I was in was from some weird trapped gas or something. It got so bad I could barely move, but I went on the trip anyway with the logic that if I needed a doctor I could get one easier in a hotel with my contact lady present than alone in my room.
I did feel better Saturday morning, but the first stop I could barely walk. Every step was slow, gentle, and deliberte. Each step jarred my sides very badly.
While everyone explored, ie drank, in the city of Groningen I chilled out in the hotel, avoiding movement. I read, watched tv, it wasn't bad. This morning I felt better and by the afternoon hardly noticed anything.
The hotel was probably the crapiest new hotels ever. It was adequete and clean, but small, no batteries in the remote, and actual keys. Two thin beds pushed together with poor water pressure. It was fine, but the place was new. No batteries in the remote? Come on.
I roomed with Sam, my neighbor, and gave the line of the weekend, "There better be two beds and if not I'm big spoon."
By not going into two I missed dinner, but got two sandwiches in the restaurant. I was all alone and obviously in pain and the seats me and gives me a Dutch menu. I ask if there is one in English and he, very embarressed, replied that it was new and no translation was made yet. I asked for a sandwich and he brought two very nice one out. One ham, one cheese. One problem with Europe is that they don't make sandwiches well. They're ok, but they don't understand the concept of many different things on a sandwich. Odd.
I ate and chilled in the room, watched some cool Discovery program called "How Scifi Saved my life." It was about scifi movies and television and its thoeries and impacts on our lives. Very cool.
Sam woke me up snoring like a freight train. Its no big deal, everyone snores, but this woke me up. I didn't wake when he came in, but his snoring did. He should probably get it checked out.
Today we went to the Groninger Musuem, an art place. It was small, but interesting. Nothing I'm really interested in, but then we went out on a boat for a little cruise, ominously discrbed as a three hour tour. No joke. We sailed around, they droped nets, we played with little shrimp and craps, ate a few little shrimp, they smoked some fish, it was great. The fish is one called Poon. We never let it go, how can you? They also droped the big net and pulled up lots of stuff inculding a human skull, or so we thought, but they just play a joke on the tourists. I thought it was great.
They also kept feeding us. They had coffee and cake, then the fish, then sandwiches, then soup. It was all good, even if I kept spilling soup on myself. Boats aren't great places for soup.
I felt fine during all of this.
We got back to Amsterdam at around 6:30 and here I am and I still havn't done this one reading. Damm.
I love and miss you all,
Matt
