I'll start this off with the most important thing. I got Clapton tickets!!!!!! AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Show is tonight; three other guys at the hostel got them as well. I'm so excited. They are the cheap seats, but they still were only 40 bucks. Half of the price it would be to see him in Philly.
I had an eventful day even without the joy that is Clapton tickets. I walked around with this Canadian guy named Dan. Good guy, got tickets, reminds me of Jake. Looks like him. Its weird. Anyway we walked all over, hitting the Synagogue, the baths, and some Hungarian food.
We first went to the ticket center and after not finding the subway entrance walked over the river to the Parliament building. They say it’s the third largest in the world and it is nice, but we couldn't get in so we sat outside and was talked to by a Hungarian guy. We have no idea what he said, but we think he tired to sell us pot. Not sure, but we said no thank you. You have to admire the balls on the guy if he did. We're right in front of the Parliament. Maybe he was retarded or something.
From there we walked to the Synagogue. The one in New York is larger, but that’s it. It’s very nice, but security is tight. As soon as we walked up to the metal detectors a few extra plainclothes (but still quite obviously) security walked up as back up. I didn't think two skinny tourists were something to worry too much about. Maybe it was the beers we finished before we went in. Ya. I bet it was that.
The temple is very nice, but you have to pay to get into the temple proper. It’s a house of god and they want you to pay. Too much ammo for the anti-Semites I say. We didn't pay (it was like five bucks!) and made our way up to the Turkish baths.
Oh my, is that ever wonderful. Hot tub, cold tubs, indoor, outdoor, sauna, steam. Soooooooooo relaxing. I talked to a few guys from the Hostel and met a Naval Mid and his sister. I didn't think they got leave in the summer. Nice people.
After the good soak Dan and I went to this Hungarian joint on the map. Very nice and under 10 clams for the meal. The joke goes you could make anything Hungarian by putting a bunch of Paprika on it, but I don't know real Hungarian cooking. I think I got some. It was tasty.
From there it was back to the hostel. Eight hours of solid walking. Back at the hostel we all chilled in the common room drinking beer (Dan and I bought a sixer on the way back) and passing around a guitar. These Norwegian girls were chain smoking and getting annoying, but overall they were fine.
We went out as a huge group around 11 and went to this really cool bar. I don't know the name and I doubt I could find it, but it was cool. I think it was an old warehouse or some sort of broken building, but it made a cool atmosphere. They even had projected visuals on the walls in the courtyard. Very cool place, even I had to pee in a trough.
We went somewhere else after it, but it was basically closed. They did have a jazz trio playing and that is always nice.
I left with the guide and the Norwegian girls 40 minutes later or so. I simply needed my sleep.
The Englishmen put on Life of Brian, which is always nice, and soon we are heading to the Statue Park. It’s a park where they put all the old Communist monuments. Should get some nice shots.
After that it’s Clapton! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I love and miss you all,
Matt
