"All of my pain is a spider
I've learned not to crush with
the heel of my shoe
but to guide with the page of my journal
to an empty glass
Asking questions about its life, its purpose,
as I walk careful out to the garden
and rest it down on the earth.

My pain,
how happy it is to leave me whenever I treat it kind"

- Andrea Gibson

How to capture this apartment, third floor, with its worn wood and sunlight.

South windows soaking in heat, higher than the trees. Each morning's greeting: hello trees. In response, the trees and the sky and the sounds of birds and people waking fill my awareness, sometimes almost to tears, even first thing. All of my terrible moods confronted, there is no room here for malingering narratives of self. There is only your breath, and the vividness of tree tops and fresh morning air.
