I got into CSULB. It was the only school I applied for, seeing as it was my birthday and I had a week before admissions for most of the schools around here closed. And even though I want to get the hell out of Los Angeles, I know Jeff still has some things he needs to do in his career and I didn't want to move without him. Locally, UC Santa Barbara and CSU Monterey Bay have great (probably better) marine bio programs, but little to offer Jeff work wise unless he diversifies (which he is in the process of doing), although his family is in SB.
While I think I could have passed a GRE for biology with a little studying, I didn't want to apply to a graduate program. I felt I'd rob myself of a good undergrad education, and be playing catch up with the other students. The undergrad period is also when you get your mentors, intern, play around and figure out what you want to study in grad school. Problem is I already have a B.S. Some of the Cal States do not admit students for an additional degree. CSULB does, but only "highly qualified" students in a few majors, like nursing, engineering, and life sciences. I was nervous about this because while I did amazing in high school and Art Institute, I struggled with astrophysics at UCLA and was on academic probation before I left.
I've got to have a serious sit down with myself and my boyfriend and talk about how my life is going to change.
Happy birthday Jeff, who doesn't read this, and may he pass his Unity test today.
