Moving
I guess we're moving either august 15th or september 1st. 90% sure we're going to this place we looked at in Maynard. the apartment is less than ideal... the kitchen setup is pretty terrible, closet space is limited, and it's smallish. it's almost impossible to compare anything to the place we have now, though. we love this apartment and don't want to move, but lynn's commute is unreasonable, especially with gas prices going up and up. maynard is a good location for both of us, and the apartment we looked at seems to be pretty decent compared with what's around. nice things about it are it's the bottom left of a 4 unit duplex (no stairs!), with our own driveway, a screen porch, basement storage, walking distance to all the stuff downtown (including a little movie theatre), 900/mo, and ... a DISHWASHER!!! i hate dishes and that's the only thing lacking in our current apartment, a dishwasher.
back to the terrible kitchen setup, though...the place has washer and dryer hookups, but they're in stupid places. the washer is next to the kitchen counter, and the dryer is on the far wall of the kitchen in a little pantry type space. if we have a washer and dryer, that'll take up pretty much all the space in the kitchen. our kitchen table probably wouldn't fit, and that makes me sad because it's an amazing table. so the current tenant has a nice-looking set of washer and dryer that they would sell to us, but i'm just not sure if it's worth having them in the apartment at all.
it's too bad we couldn't find an apartment we both loved (lynn was pretty happy about a condo rental in acton we looked at, but it was too far/expensive/in a complex for me). but i think we can make this place work.
