I have named the fledgling blue jay Jonesy. I will be heartbroken and feel tremendously guilty if he does not make it--however, he hops quite ably, flaps his wings, and his parents are hanging out (they squawked at the dog and I when we got out of the car.)
Bitters the bat made an appearance tonight as well. I can't actually verify it is the same bat, but every night he swoops through in the same pattern, and it looks like the same bat.
I have not seen Timmy in a year, although I did find an empty shell in my yard a few months ago..*sigh*. Bubba is apparently still in the pond (how long do green frogs live, anyways?) and the wolf spiders that have taken up residence on my porch are not nearly as charismatic as Hannibal and Clarice. In fact, they keep trying to web me inside the house, which has dimmed their popularity ratings somewhat.
Someone in the dog park told me I live in the "Amityville Horror house". He was a little bemused when I took that as a compliment.
The cats however are unhappy, because they can hear Jonesy outside and possibly see him through the window. The dog has decided that he is happy to be on the couch with his head on my leg.
Animals are so, so blessedly uncomplicated compared to people. They eat, poop, play, and sleep. As long as they have a place to do these things, they seem content. People think too much.
