Dead Can Dance

I remember my first ever encounter with the magic that is Dead Can Dance. The Montreal Film Fest had setup the outdoor stage for the usual shenanigans. A friend of mine had invited me down with a small gang from the Valley, Valleyfield Qc that is....

And still vividly etched in my mind, is closest real life incarnation of Animal I've ever seen on film, bouncing up and down while whacking every bit of percussion in the background. It wasn't Brendan Perry, and until he started singing, I had no idea he was a force to drawn.

But is it ok for rocker chicks to like DCD? Barb, one for Valley rockers was completely in awe with what she just experienced. However, she couldn't shake the fact that it wasn't AC/DC or Def Leppard, and it might not be ok if she actually liked it... And then they spoke...

Both Lisa and Brendan were in the audience, and they had microphones... And they thanked us for being there... I wanted to run up on stage, grab the mike and thank them for the life changing experience. For one of us that night, it wasn't ok. For me, it was a portal into the "non-metal" world... I mean, is there really life outside of Metal?
