(no subject)
Please let me know if any of you find this ironic:
It's the last real year I'll be home (by this time next year I'll probably be in college or at least almost completely ready to move) and my parents and I are completely at each others' necks. We get into a huge fight at least twice a week and then calm everything down right away. It's like an atom bomb - everything explodes massively and then cools back down just as fast. I thought this year I was supposed to "mend any broken relationships within my nuclear family".. lol. And yes, all of this is about college. I think my parents feel that I'm not going to get in anywhere except UF and U of Vermont (both of which they don't look too highly upon - UF higher than UV).
Eh - I'm just looking forward to the end of "application season". I'm sure once all of this is over everything will calm down. It's just irritating. But hey, considering that I've had an amazingly wonderful summer so far, it's nothing I can't really handle.
We're going college hopping next week.. we're actually leaving here on Friday. I really really really hope it's peaceful.. lol.
BTW - don't get me wrong - I absolutely love my parents, they're such amazing people - it's just the whole college thing is pushing everyone's nerves.
On another note:
I've recently gotten back in touch with Siva (a friend of mine from MOSI). He's a really great guy and I'm so glad we got back in touch :).
The research is still going really well - I've gotten decently close to some of the grad students there so it makes the work ten times better. I haven't ruined TOO much equipment. I ruined a bit of running buffer (I left it out of the fridge) and I might have ruined a bottle of protein assay reagent (...I left it out too :-p). I feel horrible about the protein assay bottle - especially because it was almost full. Hopefully it didn't get ruined too much.. or it's still usable.. or something. Nobody's really giving me too much flak about it - they just made fun of me for a while :-p. Great people.
Ah - I found a Billy Joel CD with "The Piano Man" on it - and that made me insanely happy.
...And that's about my summer so far. lol. I know.. I know - with such a long entry I bet you peeps were expecting something rather interesting... sorry to disappoint you guys :-p.
