HD and Potter on the Cheap AND Dang UltraViolet!

Saw that Big Lots has Magnavox BD players with built in Wi-Fi for 57 bucks! The catch...clerk told me they don't run Netflix, for some reason. Only seems to run VuDu (Wal-Mart's service). But, still, cheapest blu-ray player I have ever seen. And with wi-fi to boot, so you can use BDLive and such. Refurbished, of course.

Now, for my quck rant on UltraViolet...Warner Bros. new ″digital copy.″ Never heard of it until I picked up Potter 7.2 today (Target has exclusive bonus disc with cast interviews, BTW).

See, unlike other digital copies, UltraViolet is never actually downloaded onto your computer/device/phone. No. Instead, you unlock the ability to STREAM the movie over the internet. That's right...you can't watch your ″digital copy″ without internet connection. How's THAT for portable?

From what I glean online, it also doesn't work with iTunes, which has ticked off loads of folk. (Aside- Oh, sucks when your device isn't supported, does it, iPod folk? Does it REALLY? Yeah, well PSP owners have been dealing with that for years.)

Anywho...if you are a Potter fan, be advised that the 8 disc DVD set for 89 bucks is steep...if you realize Sam's has the first 6 films in Double Feature packaging for 8 bucks a pop ($24 total for 6 films) and you can get 7.1 and 7.2 for 15 or so each ($30) for a total saga cost of 54 dollars. The 8 disc Blu-ray is also ridiculous, as it is ON SALE at Target for $109...but they also have right there Potters 1-7.1 on BD at 10 each and 7.2 single disc for 18...total cost $88. But for REAL fanatics, might wanna wait for extended box set...however, I think they are only up to Azkaban or Goblet on extended re-relaeses, so it may be a while.

Yeah. So, there ya go.
