A good friend of the family passed away today. He had a stroke a few weeks ago and was getting better; well enough to be moved to a Nursing Home for recovery; but he passed away this evening. He was simply one of the kindest men I have ever met. He lived a very good and full life though. I feel very sorry for another family friend who last her husband last month. She was very close to the man who passed away today. He was like a father to her. Now she has lost two people she cared deeply about so close to each other.
On a happier note I am 99% done with everything. I have a group meeting Monday to assemble a project binder that is due the 2nd. But aside from that I am done done done. Now I have to catch up on everything I have been neglecting. Like my laundry and dishes and finding a job. It is a weird feeling to be through. There is no doctoral degree in my field so I will most likely never have to take classes again. Unless i decide to go to seminary; but that is by no means a concrete decision. I am the first person in my immediate family to get a masters. My oldest brother took all the classes but never wrote his thesis. I graduate on his birthday. I hope it doesn't spoil his day too much. But I can understand how it may be a rub to him because he came so close and because he is a full ten years older than me; so it is not like he didn't have the time to complete his before me. But I am sure it sucks that the family attention will be focused on me that day instead of him.
Tomorrow the SLC (student Leadership Committee) which I am the vice-president of (not for too much longer though) is throwing a big end of year bash. So I get to go buy all the food and supplies for that. It will be a lot of running around; but it will be a good way to end the year. A funny side note: I wrote an announcement on the white board in class announcing the "SLC end of year bash". Halfway through class though the professor started erasing it. he realized he was erasing it and stopped mis way. But the left over parts then read "SIC end of year hash". Now that would be a party.
