Back to Business and Bonfires

This weekend in VA was good; but it went by much too quickly. I was hoping to be able to head down again in a few weeks between classes and graduation, but that is looking more doubtful now. If I could somehow make Ohio and Virginia more geographically close to each other that would be great... Anyway, I got to see family, and pets, and friends so I am a bit re-charged.

Now it is back to the hectic schedule of the last two weeks. Well week and a half by now. I will be so glad when it is over.

Tonight was my strategic planning group's presentation to the Board. Strategic Planning is my program's thesis equivalent. So the presentation to the board is sort of like oral defense though not nearly as stressful as our grade doesn't really depend all that much on how the Board reacts. We are graded more on the process than on the product. Which is not to say that we didn't produce a damn fine product. But anyway, the Board was really receptive to our presentation and generally very thankful for all of our hard work. I would love to be a fly on the wall when they start developing an operational plan and prioritizing the goals and strategies we presented, though. We worked with some very nice people; but this organization has some major issues that it needs to deal with and I wonder if they will deal with them or just keep ignoring the elephants in the room.

On a totally random note there were two people having a bonfire in my apartment building's back yard today. The yard area borders a parking lot for another apartment complex. I looked out my window earlier tonight and saw a roaring fire at the border of the parking lot in between two cars. At first I was like, "Fuck the yard is one fire!" But then I realized the flames were contained to one spot and that there were two people sitting around it. To me it is such a strange place to have a bonfire. The apartment building on the other side of the parking lot has a nice courtyard with bar-b-que areas and tables and such. That would have been a much better area. Plus where they had it at the border there is a bunch of brush and little bushes. They seriously could have caught all of that on fire. Plus why the fuck would you want to hang out between two cars in a parking lot? It was all very strange.

Anyway, I'm off to bed to catch a few hours before the craziness starts again.
