So while I've been waiting to hear back from the vet about Mav's biopsy results, I've tried to make myself as busy as possible. Typically, this would involve me going out and about, but having the flu (or whatever I've had) pretty much prevented that - and even if I was well, I'd still be hesitant about leaving the dog. With John on call all week and weekend, someone had to stay home and spoil him. I'm sure he's gained a pound or two over the past few days (bad me - that's actually the last thing he needs is more weight to cart around - but at 133, I figure he can afford some extra treats).
So besides spoiling him, I've been attempting to build a website based on Drupal, which I've never used before. I find it to be a bit tricky and definitely more challenging than Joomla, a program to which I'm used to. It's been slow going, but it's good to learn something new.
In addition, thanks to
metacub who showed me his shiny new A/V receiver when I was out there last, I used the power of rationalization to determine that I needed a new one myself. Clearly, one can't use an A/V receiver that only has 2 HDMI ports when you have 3 HDMI capable devices (despite the fact that I had an HDMI splitter box that was doing the job). So I did some retail therapy and had a new Pioneer receiver sent to the house. It has all the bells and whistles a nerd like myself requires - specifically - an ethernet port and an iPhone app. I eagerly look forward to a warm spring day when I can sit on my deck, margarita in hand and bring up the receiver's app, turn on the outdoor speakers, select my phone as the input, and stream music outside without having to get up. (And use my phone to change the channel that John is watching on TV just b/c I can).
Yay for being a nerd!
