Top 15 Albums of 2023 part 3: Faves

Jan 18, 2024 13:41

And now for my absolute favorite albums released in 2023, the ones I legit went out of my way to listen to multiple times, and maybe even bought in CD form.

5. Chase by Minho

This was Minho's first real album release. It was a mini album and for some reason i was pretty obsessed with it. Heartbreak was my top song and i often set it just to repeat. It was like this classic-sounding R&B song that i just couldn't get enough of. Prove It was also good, and the title track. He's prolly the last member of SHINee i expected to release something really good but yeah lol.

4. Blue Giant OST by Hiromi

Hiromi is an awesome Japanese pianist whom i've seen live several times. This is for an anime i think, but idk i really enjoyed it more than some of her recent albums. Very jazzy and funky. I actually listened to it so much that it became my top played album of hers period.

3. Blood of Youth OST ( 少年歌行 网络剧原声带 )

Yeah so i was obsessed with this drama and naturally became obsessed with the soundtrack as well. It's various artists but for some reason the album is credited to Elvis Wang I think. Who is a rare bass singer and has plenty of other albums worth listening to also but yeah i just played this album anytime i wanted to be reminded of the drama or whatever hahah.

2. TOC THE BEST by TOC

The album that triggered my insane TOC Hiilcrhyme binge for a few months. It has two new songs, and I actually did buy it so i could get the live DVD it came with. It does have some really good songs from his disco like Messiah, Birthday, Hate, 1999, and Bird. But i feel like there's a shitton of really good songs he excluded from it too. Yet, it's probably pretty representative of his sound as a solo artist.

1. D-Day by Agust D

I got so obsessed with TOC and later Ichini, that i highkey forgot that Suga relased a very good album earlier in the year. Faves were Hageum, Huh?!, Polar Night, and D-Day.  I played it quite a lot and i think it was cohesively better than D2, but the problem is that Daechwita is impossible to top. I will honestly be surprised if Suga EVER tops that song. So while Daechwita > Hageum, i would say that the Huh, Polar Night, and D-Day trio are better than the Moonlight, What Do You Think, Honsool trio. I did buy a physical version too. It stayed in my Jeep for awhile after i got it.

That does it for my top albums. Will make a top songs post next.
