tale of two dramas
So I finished Love of Nirvana awhile back and despite the probably censor-promoted ending, i really liked it. The acting from the leads mainly was really good. I'm also amazed at how well they cultivated the relationship between the FL and the ML when the initial 10 eps or so the FL kept being victimized by him and he was legit trying to kill her. Unrelated, but MDL users have the worst taste. I saw so many going on about how hot Jeremy Tsui is and ????? How? And his character was a total cad.
Anyway, so that kind of dark trope and gray ML, i.e. Wei Zhao played by RJL is very much my thing. I started Melody of Golden Age kinda getting the same vibes from the synop and the comments on it, but so far ugh it's not and Shen Du is boring and unintimidating, which sucks bc DYX is fully capable of playing a Wei Zhao kind of character but this just doesn't seem to be it. They even tried to hype him up in te first ep as badass but in subsequent eps it just looks flat like they didn't have the guts to continue his persona with the girl. Maybe it's a slow starter idk i'm not gonna give up on it just yet, but i was really looking for the LON dynamic soooooo...
I started Kill Me Love Me on Netflix and whoa first epsiode went hard hahah. These synops are mostly terrible, but based on the first episode it appears FL joined an assassins guild to kill the third prince Murong Jinghe bc she believes he or his army burned down her village and killed her family based on a token she took from a dude pouring fuel on the fire at the time. It appears that both ML and FL do their own voices, though I'm not familiar enough with Liu Xueyi's voice to be confident, but since other characters dubbers are listed on Baidu i'm assuming that's the case for now.
Speaking of Netflix, i'm down to their bottom tier with brief ads, so far they're not that bad, kinda like how Prime is now. It says it's on Viki too but it might be region locked since Netflix but i haven't checked yet. Anyway right now, KMLM is definitely giving me the vibe i was looking for so MOGA gets paused for now.
