Maggie leaned over Pin's shoulder. She pointed at a small rock on the screen. "You seriously want to go to Guts or Glory Station?"
"Don't know 'bout you Maggie, but it's the only station I know that the Company avoids."
"With good reason Pin. Those poor sons of bitches are nuts. They've been living on underscrubbed air, over the limit radiation and food bars from the turn of the century for so long its a wonder they don't all have three heads and think they're the Second Coming."
"Those guys are the only ones that know just how it is."
Maggie bit down a snort. She patted Pin's shoulder. "We gotta do what we gotta do. At least we'll be under the radar for a little while."
The fox faced man grinned as he adjusted the heading. "They'll be glad to hear about our guest. They want the Company down bigtime on GorG. Revolution is here baby."
Shaking her head Maggie backed out of the forward cabin. "Give me a holler when we hit Gorg space." As soon as the hatch sealed behind her, the woman ran her fingers through short hair and cringed. "Damn."
"You hired him Sis."
"There was how much choice?" Maggie smiled at her brother. "What's up Pat? You finally wear Isolde out?"
He chuckled and scuffed his toe on the deckplating. "Ew. Liked it better when I was talking shit about your sex life instead of the other way around. No. I want to know the truth about the load."
"Pat...."
He folded his arms across his chest. "Do not give me that Pat... shit. Look on your face, that load is not only good, but too good. What are we hauling?"
Biting her lip, Maggie sighed. "No one knows but you, me, and the Doc."
"It's true, isn't it? We're hauling heirloom." Pat scuffed his toe again. "Hell is gonna be cooler."
"Already a lot of heat on its way. We're going to GorG to shake it."
Pat shook his head. "I'll keep it quiet. Maggie?"
"Yeah Pat."
"You'll pull us through."
Maggie hugged her too-tall brother. She never felt more love for the guy than she did at that moment. "I love you too Pat."
"Hate to interrupt..." came from behind Pat. Maggie opened her eyes to see the elfin Doc.
"What can I do for you Doc?"
"Life just got more interesting."
