I know I've got some soap watchers on my friends list. Well, I've got a question for you. I'm revising a couple chapters of my mystery novel to hand in for class on Thursday. In one scene, the main character's soap-obsessed friend tries to convince her that the uncashed $5000 check that she has found made out to her (dead) mother from a rich old lady could be a blackmail payoff.
For a second, ignore the fact that one would probably not pay one's blackmailer with a check. What's important here is that to convince the main character to consider the possibilty that her mom was blackmailing the rich old lady, the friend argues that Lila Quartermaine was blackmailed once.
So, my question is, was she? I feel like she had to have been at some point over the years. If she was, what was she blackmailed for and by whom? And if she wasn't, can you think of some other old rich soap lady who was blackmailed?
Also, does anyone know the name of an expensive brand of clock (possibly an antique) that a CEO (rich lady's son) would have in his office?
