A whole bunch of things

Wow I haven't posted anything real in a while. I guess I was kind of busy being bored. Anyway, on Friday, my sister came to visit. We ended up having a kind of dinner party on Saturday with inkstain and her family, and Shawn (a college friend of Rose's and her boyfriend), and Alaya and Chol (a high school friend of Rose's and her boyfriend). We made homemade pasta and it was delicious. There was also surprise cake for my mom, since her birthday was on Tuesday and we celebrated it all weekend long. On Saturday, Rose, Alaya, Chol, Hannah and I went sledding. It was really fun until Rose twisted her ankle, at which point it got less fun. It turned out I also tweaked my left knee, which I really hope gets better before Monday when swing club meets. Anyway, then Hannah and I successfully made sugar on snow for the first time in either of our lives. It turns out the secret is to heat the syrup way past the boiling point. On Monday, we gave Mom all her birthday presents. I made her a shawl and Rose made her a necklace and Dad got her the Rosetta Stone Spanish program because she had a great time in Mexico and wants to go back. It is SO COOL. I want to get a million Rosetta Stone programs and learn Arabic and Chinese and Tagalog and Dutch. Serious awesome.

Yesterday I flew to Madison! My flight was delayed about an hour, but it was no big deal. I'm staying with a college friend of my dad's and his wife at their super-awesome apartment one block from the capitol building. Anna is going to drive up in about an hour and we're going to do some shopping, have dinner and then drive down to her town, which is about 45 minutes away. Then we'll drive to school on Saturday.

Oh, and any college students interested in Global Warming activism should definitely check out the National Campus Energy Challenge, although my school is going to kick all of your asses.
