The big news here is Venkman.  He's a six-month-old Border Collie mix! I didn't even have to do anything sneaky; Mom rescued him in White County last week.  He's really cute and VERY smart.  I think I'm gonna try to teach him to compete in Dog Agility; with some training I think he'd do really well.  The cats aren't too crazy about him, but they'll live.  Once he gets out of this chewing stage he'll be a really good dog.  I plan on taking him with me when I move to ATL at the end of the summer, but it's already looking like I'm gonna have to fight Dad for him! ;)

My life this summer has been preoccupied by trying to throw together a yard sale, but it hasn't been easy.  Ugh.  Been in the attic for weeks.  It wouldn't be such a chore if my parents had EVER.  THROWN.  ANYTHING.  AWAY.  EVER.  I've found bills from 1988, empty boxes galore (boxes to stuff we don't even own anymore!), dry-rotting stuffed animals, all my old horse show ribbons, about 6 broken lamps, a Real Ghostbusters TV tray (I am sooo keeping that!), and tons of photographs - Which should NOT be stored in an attic where the temperature reaches about a thousand degrees!  What makes it worse is the fact that there's so much stuff we never unpacked from our last two moves - And Army movers wrap EVERYTHING in yards of paper.  I found a damn ballpoint pen wrapped in tons of packing paper.  How messed up is that?  (Still not as bad as the wad of paper I found in one crate, which I unwrapped and unwrapped and unwrapped only to discover... a 15-year-old box of Tampax.)

I wanna have the damn yard sale before we go to Vegas next month (July 12).  We have so much crap.  I'm about ready to have a yard giveaway instead - "Take whatever you want; just get it out of the house!"

My bridesmaid dress came in last week, and I had to get it fitted for alteration.  I don't look as terrible as I thought I would, but also not as good as I had hoped.  Oh, well.  According to my bathroom scale I've lost 17.5 pounds; I guess I should be happy about that.  But being back in that bridal shop last week did reinforce one thing, though: I never want a wedding.  Sheesh.

Went to Music Midtown last weekend.  It was cool; we saw Lou Reed and Keane, and I saw about one song each from Alan Jackson and Tom Petty.  We also saw the Counting Crows, which was an absolute train wreck - The lead singer was so trashed Andy & I were afraid he was gonna fall off the stage.  (Found out later that his best friend had died earlier in the day, but still)  We were mainly there to see The Killers, though, and we stood in the pouring rain for five hours so we could be at the front of the crowd.  It was totally worth it: I am so fucking in love with Brandon Flowers it's sad.  I think I'll just chuck this whole job search thing and be a groupie for a few years...
