The Last Wake Up [23:56:41] Alan Davies: *knock knock* Robert are you really there?
[23:57:05] Bob: Alan! I wasn't expecting you to IM me
[23:57:56] Alan Davies: Just got in. It is almost midnight for you, so I didn’t want to call and wake you
[23:58:50] Bob: Couldn’t sleep. How was the flight? As big a cast of characters as last time?
[00:00:01] Alan Davies: Took a sleeping tablet. Thankfully I was asleep the entire time.
[00:00:36] Alan Davies: It is nice to be on the ground again, but not nice to be so far away from you
[00:01:29] Bob: Been missing you since you left. We are going to have to plan a time for our next get together
[00:01:58] Alan Davies: Yes! I will talk to my agent and see when I have some windows open
[00:02:29] Alan Davies: It would be nice if it could do New Years again
[00:02:48] Bob: Seems a long way off…would be nice if we could find a time even sooner!
[00:03:38] Alan Davies: I will check later on today after I have a bit of a nap - the tablets are great, but it was not restful.
[00:04:45] Bob: Okay. Just let me know and I will compare your times against my calendar
[00:05:32] Alan Davies: Alright love. Have your script for next week?
[00:06:04] Bob: Yep. Gave it a read earlier today. Looks good.
[00:06:08] Bob: What about you? Have anything lined up?
[00:06:54] Alan Davies: I am going to be on Nevermind the Buzzcocks again - always a fun day
[00:07:30] Bob: You did look like you were having a blast on it your first time.
[00:08:08] Alan Davies: How did you manage to get a copy. I guess I will need to be on my best behavior next time
[00:08:48] Bob: I have my ways. Anything is possible if you want to get a hold of it badly enough ;)
[00:09:22] Alan Davies: Well I guess it is, I guess time to fess up to owning I Was a Teenage Vampire… very good work
[00:09:55] Bob: That movie was so corny and bad. I can't even believe I did it
[00:10:48] Alan Davies: It was only your second movie…hardly can be held responsible.
[00:11:07] Bob: Well, it did get my foot in the door for Poets
[00:13:42] Alan Davies: Yes, you really did well with that. I am sure that changed you dramatically - you needed to grow up quickly
[00:14:59] Bob: It was great career-wise, but was a lot to take in. Vampire was small potatoes comparatively.
[00:15:43] Alan Davies: I bet. Jonathan Creek was that for me. But I was much older then you when that happened.
[00:17:03] Bob: Yeah. You never really know what it is like to be a film star until you have mobs of people literally throwing themselves at you
[00:17:29] Alan Davies: I would settle for just one specific person throwing himself at me
[00:17:50] Bob: Just give me the opportunity to get you alone and I would gladly throw myself at you.
[00:18:13] Bob: Would give everyone else up
[00:18:59] Alan Davies: But an actor is who you are. I would never want you to give up something that is so fundamental. I will be happy to take you whenever I can.
[00:20:10] Bob: I have made up my mind that, when House is over and done with, that I am going back to the stage. I've had enough of the spotlight for my liking these past few years
[00:21:28] Alan Davies: How long do you have left on the House contract? Or will you renew if the show continues? I am sure it is welcome money
[00:23:42] Bob: I have a couple more years left on the contract, and I don’t think I have a choice but to renew if we are still going strong by that point. Everyone seems to think I am vital to the cast, so I will probably be strung up if I don't renew
[00:24:21] Alan Davies: Fox still believes in the show?
[00:24:50] Bob: Well, we are still near the top in the ratings, so I believe that would be a ‘yes’
[00:25:28] Alan Davies: I guess that is good for old age: you can save for retirement, since stage acting does not tend to pay very much
[00:26:36] Bob: Yeah. Even if House was over with this season, I would still have enough saved away to do theater for a long time.
[00:27:02] Bob: You ever thinking of getting back into standup?
[00:28:11] Alan Davies: Yes, I want to, but I think I have gotten lazy. I miss the control and the creativity involved. I just need to commit myself to it…I have been working on a new routine.
[00:29:06] Bob: Well, if you ever need an audience to try it out on, I am available
[00:30:30] Alan Davies: I think you would be a little biased
[00:31:16] Bob: You doubt that I have the backbone to tell you when your jokes are bad?
[00:32:20] Alan Davies: I am sure you would be diplomatic about it. I might try one or two out on you. It depends…I struggle with the comedy sometimes, and you are a nice break from it.
[00:33:11] Bob: :) Maybe next time you visit...unless we are engaged in other activities??
[00:34:17] Alan Davies: The other activities sounds nice.
[00:34:57] Alan Davies: It just struck me that I miss hearing your voice. I would like you to read me a book sometime when I am not on death’s door and can appreciate it
[00:35:40] Bob: Just pick the book, and I will read anything you want me to, Alan. Sounds like the flight took a lot out of you, although you were out for most of it.
[00:36:15] Alan Davies: yes, it did. I want to keep talking to you, but you are right I am knackered
[00:37:16] Bob: So I guess I will talk to you tomorrow, then?
[00:38:14] Alan Davies: Well, later today for me, which is tomorrow for you - it is Monday - do you have an early call? I want to know when I can phone
[00:38:49] Bob: Not in too early...need to be in at 11am
[00:39:45] Alan Davies: oh that is nice. *thinks* 7pm here, I might call you at 9:30am just to say hi ..
[00:40:04] Bob: Well, I would hope you stick around longer than just a 'hi'
[00:40:31] Alan Davies: well of course, that is just the starter course.
[00:40:46] Alan Davies: Sleep well, love. I will be thinking of you.
[00:41:33] Bob: You, too. Bed for me soon as well.
[00:42:08] Alan Davies: Good night, Love
[00:42:13] Bob: Night, Alan
[00:42:58] *Alan Davies signs off*
