red-letter day

I got a real smile!!!

Previously we'd see expressions on his face that looked like smiles ... but usually were him twisting up his entire body to pass gas (or something). And I'd also see smiles as he dreamed. On Wednesday, he smiled and made happy noises when my mom came to visit (oh, that made me JEALOUS)!

But finally, he smiled at ME. WOO HOO! (now my husband is a bit annoyed that the kid smiled for me but not for him - just wait a day or two: your turn will come!)

In other news, today is the 8th day of the 8th month in 2008. Special, huh? Supposedly Asian brides were mobbing rental halls to book this day for their weddings to secure the lucky day. I had my own brush with "lucky 8s" today ()

EM Jr woke up at 7:15 this AM, fed and went back to sleep. My unnursed boob was feeling mildly engorged so I put the baby down in his crib and went to go pump. By the time I got everything hooked up and going it was 8 AM. Pumping takes about 15 minutes. So my bottle of breast milk is from 08/08/08, 8:08 AM. It would have been slightly cooler if it was 88 mL but whatever.

Being mildly crazy, I looked up Ebay's policy on selling bodily fluids (hey! I could start up my kid's college fund if a superstitious person wanted to bid up my breast milk for its luckiness and power to make chubby babies from well-educated mamas). Alas, it seems to be forbidden. They don't let you sell things like body parts or blood ... and dairy products need to be pasteurized. That would appear to rule breast milk right out (though it's not expressly forbidden).

*grump*
