You know, I saw that picture and came *this* close to starting to make up AU for it. And then I was all, YOU HAVE OTHER THINGS TO WRITE and anyway I already did an Ed-is-a-sorcerer thing that's totally different.

But I TOTALLY wanted to read this! I liked all the explanation about who Winry is to him, and her character, and the stuff about Al and the gate. Nicely done.

I have wanted to write this sort of story for a long time. So requesting that art - and getting such an amazing illustration - really got the creative juices going.
