There was a Cuban Anole in my Mom's car today...

I felt like I was back in Florida.

The poor lizard must've hitchhiked in from the plants we bought at Lowe's - we found a bunch of "Please take them away, we're tired of them" plants in really nice shape and bought almost $30 worth of them. Mr. Lizard (yeah, I can sex Anoles) had to have been hiding in one of the hydrangeas because I found him hanging on the back of the driver's seat when I reached in to grab my groceries.

What a cutie?

I caught him, of course, and showed him to Mom. He was pretty big, about seven inches long from nose- to tail-tip. Since I had nothing to keep him in, Mom insisted I turn him loose in the garden.

As mild a winter as we had this year, he might survive, but without a girlfriend, he won't give us any baby Anoles. And, you know, since Cuban Anoles are invasive anyway, probably all for the best.

Now, if he'd been a green Florida Anole...
