I've been staying at Mom's because of the heat here in Indiana. It's been absolutely miserable, and at my house, I don't have central air. The window unit in my bedroom hasn't been coping with the incredible heat, so the elds and I moved to Mom's for the past two weeks. So, the past week at Mom's, there has been a huge problem - the kitchen sink wouldn't drain. We were lucky in that the bathroom drain is separate, and had no problem whatsoever, but there was about five days where we were plunging and fighting with the sink daily. My cousin came over and used a rotor to try and clean the drain, and a snake, and a larger rotor that was more of an augur and so on, and now the drain works again. The problem is, we have no idea where the sink drains out except under the back yard deck. And not only under the deck, but under the ground beneath the deck.
You can see the problem here.
But for now it drains and that's the important thing.
Yesterday and today, the temperature dropped and I came back to my place this afternoon and mowed. It took about two hours because the front yard never dried out and the grass kept clogging my mower. As I'm cooling off, I am watching the absolutely horrible and also very funny Sharktopus Vs. Whalewolf wherein a crazy scientist combined a lot of different animal DNA (including that of a wolf and an orca) and injected them into a washed-up baseball player. The Whalewolf looks like an orca-shark-cartoon Doberman and he acts kind of Doberman-ish at times. And it's excellent for "not paying attention" tv.
Work still remains enjoyable though this past week, we've been doing clean-up for the outsourcing which will be taking place effective 1 August. It has not been difficult work but very time-consuming. My own work has fallen behind, so I went in today and worked for a while to help catch myself up. My cube looks a lot more manageable now! There are only two piles of files, not five! And both supervisors came in after I'd been there a while, and were surprised to see me - "What are you doing here?"
"Catching up, of course!"
"Yeah, we really put a lot on you last week...hopefully, we won't do that again this coming week!"
I hope not. I'm not sure my coworkers can take it.
