My aunt's funeral was today. It lasted pretty much all day...we left for the funeral home at 8:30 and the funeral didn't start until 9:00. It was cold, well, it was pretty and it was sunny and there was a WIND THAT BLEW AND BLEW AND DIDN'T STOP.
My cousin, Homnibob, was there, which was a huge surprise. She bounced into the lounge last night and I heard her voice and whipped around and hugged her - and I'm not a hugger and another cousin who teases me about it got all pouty. Kinda. You know, in a teasing way. Homnibob and I kept hugging each other and I was admiring her tatts (she has an adorable Miyazaki dust sprite from Swept Away on her upper chest, as well as a witchy garter on her right thigh) and she promptly turned her charm on the rest of the fam and Mom had to give her hugs and that made it great. Homnibob's mom isn't as keen on how much Homnibob loves me - I'm a Bad Influence in encouraging her Paganism, not to mention Tarot info and that sort of thing. :D But she made my weekend, being here.
Had some peculiar things happen as well - the first peculiar thing happened at the viewing. I was sitting with a group of older cousins (like, Mom's age - the family she grew up with) and I happened to look over at the casket. Aunt J turned her head to look at everyone. For a split second, my reaction was, "OMG! Why didn't they anchor her head?" Then I blinked a couple of times and her head was in its original position. That really freaked me out though, and I couldn't look at the casket again.
The second thing happened very early this morning. I dreamed my cousin, B, was in Mom's kitchen and tracking mud everywhere. I made some sort of verbal protest and B said, "Now, [ELD], everything will come clean! It won't take a second to mop that up!" I opened my mouth again and
SOMEONE SCREAMED RIGHT IN MY EAR.
My eyes snapped open and I looked around wildly, seeing the clock said 2:35. I climbed out of bed and went to check on Mom to make sure she was still breathing (she was), then wondered just who'd screamed. It was a woman's voice but not one I recognized as a scream. So I wondered who might be screaming...are ya'll all right?
Finally, a little bit of fun: Zog used to tell me Bubbles reminded him of me in the Powerpuff Girls - so when I saw a chance to make myself a Powerpuff girl, I knew he'd love it. Wish you could see this, Zog.
