RIP, Mr. Nimoy

The first television series I remember is Star Trek. Dad was a big fan (Mom not so much). I was three when the series started, and I don't remember much about it, but I remember enough. Mr. Spock was my favorite character.

Fast-forward to when I was eleven, and recently moved to Florida. It was a big culture shock. Kids didn't want to learn, weren't respectful of the teachers. I couldn't understand (literally) two of my teachers because of their dialects (Jamaican and heavy Southern Black). Star Trek was playing in reruns. Dad wanted to watch it every time it was on, and we did. I loved it, and soon, my room was papered with Trek posters, calendars, and newspaper articles.

During that time, I met Robin, who introduced me to the whole world of geekery - she was sixteen. She took me to my first convention, wherein Gene Roddenberry talked and showed us the blooper reel for Trek.

I always wished I had a chance to meet Mr. Nimoy. He seemed like a genuinely wonderful person.
