I really like four day work weeks.

I had one when I worked in Florida. A three-day weekend every week? Hello. Yes, please. So, since I spent the night at Mom's, and I promised to take her to her therapy and then her exercise class, we decided we'd do some fun stuff, too.

I'd been wanting to eat at Tin Man since it opened a couple of years ago (with the logo on the billboard with some ominous words that freaked out a lot of people and made me giggle). I wound up with a coupon for a half-price appetizer from the Mardi Gras parade, and Mom had a couple of coupons in one of her booklets, so I talked her into going. Plus, she needed bread, and the bread store is right around the corner from Tin Man. So that was a sale.

Mom found an estate sale in the paper, and, since it was going on today, I said we needed to go. She agreed. And we needed to get to the library, and buy some stuff for supper. So we planned out a route (with a stop back at the house to take care of the dogs), and started on our journey.

Tin Man is a very neat place. Built in an old storefront, the building is brick, and there's a brewing room in the back that offers tours on Saturdays. The hostess recognized we were first-timers, and took good care of us, as did our waitress, who suggested what we wound up getting for our meals. We ordered an appetizer that we could've split as our meal - a chicken quesadilla - with was stuffed with grilled chicken, grilled sweet onions, and grilled red peppers, along with cheese. It came with little cups of home-made salsa (green tomatoes, onions and corn) and sour cream. Our sandwiches were huge. We ordered the cheese steak (grilled strips of steak with onions and red peppers, with provolone and another cheese sauce for Mom, and the chicken and waffle - crunchy chicken breast on a cornbread waffle, with a maple hot sauce and lettuce for me). Mom might've eaten a third of hers, I cut my waffle in half and ate that.

Now. The estate sale. It started yesterday. You would've never known it started, because it was crammed full of STUFF. SO MUCH STUFF. The husband/wife couple collected Oriental stuff, as well as expensive glassware and plates. I overheard one of the people running the sale say, "We came in here and everything was literally floor to ceiling STUFF." There was just enough room to walk through the rooms sideways. I was going nuts over the the Thai/Balinese dragon, the three Foo dogs, the Japanese screens, the beautiful fabrics. I got the cheapest of the Foo dogs (the other two were...well, I really wanted all three. The largest was cement, the second largest was...I don't know what it was made out of. It seemed like ceramic, but weighed a ton. Maybe filled ceramic? The coloring was similar to eilat, but surely it wasn't real stone for that price).

So, I'll share the smallest of the Foo dogs, and here it is:

I was told to come back on Sunday, if I didn't like today's prices. I may just do that, because I did talk them down on this dog. I'm just not sure if I could talk them down on the prettier dog, or what I'd do with such a piece. Certainly doesn't match my house now. And where would I put it?

Still. So pretty.
