Tomorrow I set off to the wonderful New York City! I should be landing a bit after 7pm and be able to step on historically rich land.
I know I'm going to fall in love with NY, so it makes planning a trip for James and I even that more fun.
I have most of my bags packed, so hopefully I am not rushing thinking I forgot something last minute.
Next weekend is Michigan. I am going to be so tired at the end of these next two weeks.
Last night the girls from work and I went hiking. Oh boy. We did a 4 mile loop with one MASSIVE hill climb. It's called BIG RED or Cardiac Hill; it's that serious LOL The most interesting part was our timing. Our meet up time was 6pm at the front gate. I show up at 6 and no one is there. Hmmm... I call, they're running late waiting for one of the gals so I wait. They show up about 20mins later and we start hiking. A bit before 7pm, one of the girls turns back to head out because she had dinner plans; she was going to call us when she got to the front gate to her car. We kept hiking and at 7:20pm we reached the end of the trail and we start to head back. At this point, we realize that she hadn't called us back, 10 minutes later, on our way back to the front we call her and she had JUST gotten to the gate. I start to then realize that we've got a long ways to go. At this point, we've still got at least a mile and a half to go and the sun is already setting. We get about half a mile away from the front and it's dark. Wow. We were hiking down a steep section and it was dark so we just decided to run. There was a wooded area where the trees covered the sky and the trail was about 2 people wide and completely dark. We ran like someone was chasing us. At the end of that section we could see the street light so we just kept running towards the light. Once we all got out, we were catching our breath and looking up, the moon was high up in the sky and it was 8:15pm. We're nuts thinking we could start hiking after 6pm with no flashlight. Thankfully I carry a pocket knife and pepper spray, so I wasn't completely terrified about a bunch of girls in the woods at night. I did get a gnarly blister at the bottom of my foot because I rushed to get ready and grabbed an old pair of socks that ended up with a hole in the sole. Great.
Needless to say I got home, showered, grabbed some cereal and planted myself on the sofa. So.Tired.
Today I need to finish up some stuff at work and give the girls stuff to do while I am gone. When I get back, I'll probably give them their reviews and let them know where our department is heading and what I expect from them. I have a lot of educational things planned outside of work that I would love them to get involved with; Ballet's, dance movies (see below) and maybe some art classes.
We for sure will be seeing this as a group:
