So... It seems to have taken me longer than I expected to get back into the flow of "home" after being, well, back home for Christmas. The trip was excellent, if maybe a tad long to keep a grown man around his in-laws. Everyone got along well, but remember the adage about fish and houseguests after three days? We were there for 11 days. 'Nuff said.
Couple that with getting hideously sick on the day we flew home. I got to be That Guy on the plane - you know, that guy who won't stop coughing and looks like he has a fever? Let me speak from experience - he does. I should have worn a HazMat suit but was too ill to care. So to anyone who landed on an Alaska Airlines flight at SeaTac in the pouring rain at 12:14 PM on January 2nd, I apologize. I was the one who gave you plague for the new year. My bad!
Since then I have started my third in a row of bizarre projects at work - this one is in JFK Airport and has no limit to the amount of foibles involved. My favorite, besides the 36'-6" ceilings - try lighting THAT space - is the fact that we are not allowed to trench plumbing in the location. For those of you adventurous types who would like to imagine this further, think about how much waste water (or other liquids) go down a drain in any given coffee shop that shall remain nameless. Now imagine if you were not allowed to sluice those liquids through the floor but had to run a series of sump pumps through the space to drain them above ground in a remote location... EEEW. Thank god I'm not a plumbing engineer. Too much headache.
That's about it. I shall now go to continue adding flooring to my abode because we are sick of living with half empty boxes of laminate around. Good day to all!
