CBIHP reviews

CBIHP is always hard to review, because unless it's a perfume it tends to just smell like what it's supposed to smell like. Red Velvet Cake: In general I’d say CBIHP cake smells more like batter than butter. In the bottle this smells like cake with a light powdery chocolate flavour. It smells more like cocoa more than milk chocolate bars. On my skin it does something very cool and starts smelling like cherry cake.

Strawberry Shortcake: This is really sugary! This is kind of fake smelling in the best kind of way, candy-ish and overwrought fruit.

Japanese Green Tea: This is a thin tea-y scent, not astringent or lemon-y. I’d say calming.

Grass (Wet Lawn): This version is huskier and fruitier and less bitter than the original Grass.

Bamboo Leaf: This fits into the CBIHP Grass family, a husky, sun-baked green scent with a thinner tea feeling. It also has a woody strength not present in the Grass blends.

Classic Incense: I was hoping for a nag champa vibe to this, none such luck. This is very woody, powdery, and a little sharp. It smells like dry Indian herbs.

Bonfire: This reminds me of a less maple-licious version of the CBIHP Burning Leaves perfume. Its got a great balance of sweet smoke and spicy wood. This is favourite of mine among the Smoke Accords.

Mulled Wine: Warm, very alcoholic wine. It doesn’t smell grape-y, though.

Rich Tobacco: very strong, it smells like bitter smokey chocolate.

Pink Grapefruit: This is very bizarre, when I smelled the pink grapefruit sample at the CBIHP store, it was weak and juicy. This sample (given to me by the lovely indigovision) is pithy and lovely, and reminds me of my BPAL Pink Grapefruit SN.

Lemonade: Can something smell carbonated? Fizzy and super sour in the bottle, but its less sour and more sugary and refreshing on the skin. It still smells very fizzy.

Pomegranate Juice: Sweet, sour, delicious and fruity!

Moroccan Spice: Wow, super foody, definitely straight out of the kitchen. Liquorice, cumin, and maybe cinnamon? Anyone else whose smelled this feel free to jump in.

Hedgerow: sweet, fresh, wet, earthy, subtle evergreen, without being pine-y.
