For my own sanity

Okay, made it through Thanksgiving, which by all accounts, was a success. Because I worked the day before and the day after, I got paid for sitting on my butt, playing City of Heroes and cooking. It's great to know I got paid while wearing pajamas.

The downside to this means that Christmas is next.

I don't like Christmas. It's supposedly "the most wonderful time of the year", but anyone who works retail or foodservice knows better than that. Granted, it does bring out the best in some people, but they're honestly few and far apart. It typically brings out the worst in our wonderful "MINEMINEMINE" society.

I usually also don't have any money to participate in the over-commercialized affair that the holidays have become. Thus, I always feel slightly inadequate, like I'm not a good provider. I know better, but society glaring at me down its nose still has an effect.

Feesh can't stand the holidays for reasons of her own. And I don't blame her in the least. Moonie, I'm pretty sure, is indifferent. Very little phases her, thank goodness. I don't know what we'd do without our solid rock.

So this year, we're going to make it a small, quiet affair. Just a couple small gifts for each other, and the rest of the world gets cards. If you want to swap cards, drop me an email with your snail address to shewolf22087 @hotmail.com.

I work all weekend, which is fine. Bakery is going to be slow until a couple weeks before Christmas, anyway. Monday and Tuesday are my weekend, so I'll spend Monday cleaning up, slightly rearranging furniture (mostly dragging it away from the window so we have room!), and dragging stuff out of the storage closet.

Man, our tree in the front yard still has GREEN leaves on it. Seems really strange to be thinking about putting up the tree when I look out and see sun coming through gren leaves. It has a few yellow ones, but it's still very full and green. And we haven't even had a hard frost yet. I'm still coming home from work at ten at night, comfortable in just a zip up fleece. The freezer at work is colder than it is outside!

I've actually got gifts picked out for everyone. I still need to buy them, but I need to pay bills first. Get caught up on that, and then the second paycheck of the month will go mostly towards gifts. I won't be spending much, this year. I think dinner will be more expensive than the gifts!

Speaking of, I could use suggestions for dinner. Feesh doesn't like ham, and we always cook roast chicken. There's only three of us, so a turkey is pretty much out of the question. Heck, we roasted two chickens for Thanksgiving and still had leftovers! If it's not something fairly basic, a recipe would be greatly loved.
