Short OTP Rant.
Recently, I read a post concerning why an OTP is chosen (One True Pairing). It stated, 'If you have an OTP, it means you believe it will happen in the end; that it will become canon. In fact, you believe this couple has more potential any other pairing in this fandom.'
I disagree.
If you have a favorite pairing, it's usually because you like the relationship -- existent or not -- between the two characters you choose. An OTP isn't chosen because the one shipping believes it will absolutely happen, but because they feel these characters mesh the best. If we all picked an OTP for it's canon-probabilty, then most fandoms would be much smaller.
