carolina inn rant...

i forgot how much i don't really like working the late events at the inn, until last night, when i worked one for probably the first time in 2 months. >< i mean, it wasn't that terrible, i just don't like to still be working at 1am, you know? that, and we were scheduled to go in at 3pm, for an event that started at 6:15...um...yeah, 4pm would have been sufficient. *shrug* an extra $10 for me, though. and then the wedding itself was very anal in a lot of ways. we had to change the napkin fold because they wanted a different one so we could put the menu cards in it. i hate when weddings have the stupid menu cards. and then when they started sitting for dinner, we found that there weren't enough seats set at a couple of tables (either that, or people switched tables) so we had to scramble to add place settings, which is a pain. and these people *drank* a ton. makes sense since a lot of them were former frat-boys and sorostitutes...but good grief. and then the guys at one of the tables kept saying things like "thank you, princess" and "thanks, sugar" when i filled their stupid wine glasses, which just kinda creeped me out. maybe they were just trying to be nice, but the tone of voice just...erg. and it was a plated meal, which is kinda annoying. aaaand, worst of all, they didn't leave on time. we were still shooing people out of the room at 12:30, when they were supposed to be out by 12. thankfully we didn't have to recet the room, just clear and vac. but it was a mess.

oh yeah...the other fun part of the evening for me was actually spending a lot of the later evening running back and forth to the guest rooms. first i did the amenity cart (we send a gift box, champagne, and wedding cake to the bride and grooms room), but had to scramble for two more nice slices of cake, because a couple of idiot newbies ate my slices before i could wrap them up. but yeah...took that up. then i had to take the cart full of gifts up to the maid of honor's room. then i had to go take a whole bunch of flower arrangements up to another room...but when we got there (this one i had help with...giant flower arrangements), there was a do not disturb sign on the door. so i had to run back downstairs to double check. yeah, it was the right room...the idiots had left the sign on the door while they were gone. they showed up while we were bringing in the flowers. and then i had to go to the bride and groom's room again to bring up some more stuff. and then again a few minutes later. which is a lot of running around the hotel, i assure you. at least angel let me go at 1:15am, when the room was essentially done. he sent a bunch home, really, and just kept the set crew. all they had left to do was taking up the dance floor and cleaning the back. both of which are hard to do when there's a million people milling about.

on the plus side, i think i impressed one of the two new manager folks with my amenity cart. he was making one for the other wedding at the same time i made mine...and mine looked much nicer. i actually really like making the amenity. not only is it fun to play with fancy napkin folds, but it means i'm not in the party room listening to bad music and cleaning shit up. so i usually take my time and make it nice :)

anywho. no solid plans today, though mo just pinged me...so hopefully i will do something vaguely social ^^ but first...breakfast!
