Happy Holidays

I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas. I am spending it at home with Andrew, Ginger and Scarlet as always. I will be making a roast and the fixins because after Thanksgiving I don't want to make another turkey only to throw away 90% of it. :) Two of my sisters, the eldest Elizabeth and the second eldest Rebecca came to visit me along with Elizabeth's daughter Amanda and her boyfriend. They were here from Wednesday until Thursday so we did not get much time to visit but it was nice that they came to visit. They brought my Mom's badass new 4Runner up to me and drove back down in my Mitsubishi Montero Sport that I miss oh so much already. My parents insisted on loaning me their vehicle so that they can make absolute sure that everything that needs to be serviced on my vehicle is done. I swear those sillies think that because it is a mere five years old it may begin to fall apart soon. Oh, well. It worked out well for me because I had just accidentally locked myself out of my car stereo and I was SO bored driving around with absolutely nothing to entertain me. I am now rocking my Mom's 4Runner listening to one of my Christmas gifts from my sister Rebecca - the new Damian Marley CD. I love him so. I don't recall doing this since I was a child - when you call your friends on Christmas evening to compare all your gifts - but I will tell you all what I got for Christmas this year because I am in a fun and childish mood.

From Rebecca the Damian Marley cd and two books - The Life of Pi and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, as was recommended by Wendy.

From Elizabeth, a very sweet angel-shaped mirror plaque thing inscribed with "Sisters by Chance, Friends by Choice," and a sterling silver and peridot necklace and earring set that I adore.

From Mom and Dad, the Tivo I got a while back along with three blouses and some pretty hair clips that they sent with my sisters.

From Andrew a PSP (gasp) with the games Hot Shots golf and Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition, the Exorcism of Emily Rose dvd (romantic Christmas gift eh? lol...that shit is scary), a box of chocolates, roses, and a some sort of special edition book about fairies.

From my manager at work I received twenty Fossil bucks and a $5 gift card to Sonic restaurants.

At about 10:00 PM last night the neighbor knocked on the door with a gift for us - a nice silver set of a salt shaker and a pepper grinder. Sweet but I had no idea they were going to do that so I had nothing for them. In all the years my mother has lived in her neighborhood she has not given or received gifts from random neighbors like that...it was kind of weird but very thoughtful. I think I will buy them a candle on Monday.

So far it has been a good Christmas, save for the fact that my father is really sick after having another biopsy. He started getting fever & chills after the procedure and is too scared to call the doctor. He has already told us that if he gets cancer again he just wants to die...so I was pleased that he at least had the biopsy done. I told my mother to call the doctor because he could die on Christmas day so she did. I have not spoken to her to find out what the doctor said. I am keeping my fingers crossed for my father and hoping everything is okay. I understand his fear but he is too young to give up and I love him and I am not ready to let him go. When he is feeling a little better I am going to have to give him another lecture about how much I need him to take care of himself and how important it is to stay on top of these things even if it means going through a lot of pain. I know he will be okay if I make sure he is taking care of himself and being taken care of. He is only in his early sixties. That is far too early for anyone to give up.

Stay safe and cherish your Christmas memories with your loved ones. I miss you all.
