There is something strangely comforting about seeing the tears and smeared-mascara fingerprints of the person who enjoyed a novel before I did.
I finished The Lovely Bones yesterday morning. I have this habit of always looking at the last paragraph of whatever novel I am reading when I am a bit through the book. I couldn't do that with this one. I wanted total surprise. When I noticed that there were only two pages left I stalled and drug them out as long as I could. I did not want this book to end.
I am reading Drowning Ruth now. I hadn't noticed it before but it is an Oprah's Book Club choice. I have loved every one of the books I have read on her list...Light in August, The Bluest Eye, Icy Sparks, Jewel, Tara Road (Binchy is one of my all time favorite authors), She's Come Undone, Where the Heart Is, and Black & Blue...I think that is all of them. Hey, I think I can trust Oprah. Well, where her book choices are concerned anyway. I would join the club but I don't like hardcovers...paying for them nor holding them.
I have been a fan of V.C. Andrews for years. I haven't finished the Hudson series. I could never find the third book in the series - Eye of the Storm. I need to finish that series.
My favorite V.C. Andrews series will always be the Casteels. Heaven was the first V.C. Andrews book I ever read and since then I have been hooked. I did not enjoy the Cutler series (beginning with Dawn), but I saw it through until Twilight's Child, when I decided I'd have enough.
Some other authors I love: Belva Plain, John Saul, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, and, though I do not like to admit it, I have enjoyed several Danielle Steel novels. GOT ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
