Lost Times

Before my sad goodbye post to Lost I decided to answer the top 20 questions people seem to want answered about the show. Disclaimer- I know nothing though I wouldn't mind knowing Sawyer or some Jack.

1. What was the signifance of the hatches?

Dharma had discovered the electromagnetic energy, the light, and ways to it. That's why the hatches were so aligned. Thus the donkey wheel that moved the island and the swan with the 108 minute countdown had electromagentic energy around them. The Swan was so important because Jughead caused some of the light to go out and the only way to cap it was to have the computer and the numbers. The numbers were significant because they belonged to the Losties and only all of them (and their numbers) put together could save the world. Live together or die alone, it is all about community. I think Oceanic 815 would have crashed even if Des had pushed the botton for Jacob was calling his candidates.

2. Who made the statue?

Egyptians who came before Mother. The Island existed since the beginning of time because of its great importance. It had other protectors, people to the Island. Ancient Eqyptians made Pyramids- not hard for them to make the statue. The Egyptian influence remained because of it's religious context of an afterlife and the weighing of one's heart looking for the good to enter that afterlife. Jacob and Dhrama both were interested in what Egyptiand had to say.

3. Why couldn't women give birth on the island after Ethan Rom/Goodspeed was born?

Jughead, duh. The Losties had to travel back in time for the future to happen. Thus it was ironic that Juliet dentonated the bomb that was the real reason no one could carry a baby to term. Electro-radiation effects at play. The needles used on pregnant Claire were intended to reduce the radition effect. Why was Claire and thus her baby special for the Others? Because it followed the history of the island that a single mother would give birth to a child and possible candidate.

4. What was the Sideways world really?

After they had all died it gave them a chance to come together. The church was their creation- a meeting place of sorts. The Sideways world was a real like worls where they got the chance to make new choices, do things differently, resolve things before they could move on. Desmond needed to have Widmore's approval. Jack needed to deal with his daddy issues and his non ship with Juliet. Etc. Eloise still had to resolve things with Daniel so he couldn't leave quite yet. Time doesn't exist in the Sideways world thus Jack saw people like Kate that could have died 100 years after him. It is a more metaphysical mind sphere. Live together or die alone once again.

5. How could Ben kill Widmore?

Wasn't that against the rules? Because Jacob's rules didn't apply anymore- Jack was now the protector of the Island.

6. Whom did Widmore follow?

MIB unknowingly. Thus why Jacob came to him after the boat exploded to make him see the error of his ways. All of the Others and Richard were listening to MIB not Jacob until Jacob relaized he needed help (Illana and crew).

7. What was the end credits of the wreckage about?

It was just a homage to the show and a "Yup, the stuff you saw really did happen on the island."

8. What was the light?

Power but we can only have so much before it robs our souls. No soul= no afterlife.

9. Who was Mother?

One more in a long line to protect the light. I think she did go into the light and become a Smokey at one point (that why she could have killed and burned that village). There were others before Mother who went into the light- the finale showed their skeletons when Desmond was in the cave.

10. What was special about Walt?

I believe that Walt had time flashes like Desmond. Remember when he told Locke that he had a dream where people were trying to kill Locke on a cliff? This would explain why the Others took Walt to discover what was going to happen for themselves and MIB. It would explain why Sawyer and Kate were tasked to help make the runway on Hydra Island that eventually ended up being their way home. Eloise eluded that "For the first time in a long time I don't know what is going to happen next," in The Variable. There may have been someone else before Walt that saw future flashes.

11. How did Desmond get back home?

The way he orginally came- on the Elizabeth.

12. Why did the freighter have a bomb on board?

Because MIB wanted the core of the Island, the light destroyed, so he influenced Widmore who went along because if he couldn't have the Island then he would destory it and Ben too.

13. Was Christian always Smokey?

No. Christian on the boat with Michael was sideways Christian "You can go now." And with Jack on the mainland he was Sideways again because C needed to get Jack back to the island.

14. Who was in Jacob's cabin?

Smokey posed in Christian flesh. He was trying to gain Locke's trust to influence him and turn Ben against Jacob.

15. Did Jack die of the stab would?

No, from the electromagnetic energy. His nose was dripping blood a la time traveling deadie Charolette.

16. What happened the Aijra passengers that left the Island as Jack died?

To be written about in fanfic! Miles must have a good life seeing he took Nikki and Paolo's diamonds. And it is infered that Kate and Claire raised Aaron and Kate never loved again.

17. How could the Aijra plane get off the ground?

Duct tape. Miles swears by it. Plus the Island is magic, Ben told Hurley he could let people leave, and the plane said 108 before it ascended.

18. How did polar bears live on the Island?

Adaptation. Dharma were scientists and thus when they left (got killed) after making these adaptable polar bears, they had cubs and the circle of life.

19. What did the springs in the temple do?

Put a little light into you either it healed you quicker or killed you. But you would turn gooder or badder (to use improper English) depending where your heart was.

20. Who was responsbile for the Dharma food drop?
Two theories either a time travel moment because the island does move in time we do know that or Jacob brought the food from somewhere. And does it REALLY matter ;)
