Summary:
Jared's life is not going well - there are people out to get him but everyone thinks the "accidents" are caused by Jared himself. The attacks are never the same twice but each one is just as dangerous. Jensen and Chad come to Vancouver to help protect him but there is nothing that they can do and in the end, it costs one of them their lives. Unfortunately for Jared, reality is a bitch. Detailed scenes throughout the story - from the attacks to the cute, fluffy J2 scenes.

Summary:
When Jared, a forensic pathologist, disappears in war-torn Sri Lanka during a human rights investigation, Jensen has no choice but to go after his estranged boyfriend.
The story is set mostly in Sri Lanka, but there are plenty of flashbacks to the US. Jared and Jensen are estranged from each other at the start of the story. Jared takes up a project for the Human Rights Commission to go to Sri Lanka to investigate what appear to be political murders. He teams up with Rekha Sharma (Kali on SPN), an archaeologist, and they quickly find themselves in danger as they try to find the identity of a victim and realize that the murder may be part of a government cover-up. They're helped by Assaf, an artist, whom they meet in a place called the Grove of Ascetics. There are forests and old ruins and a few scenes in underground copper mines, where Jared and the others are held after they're abducted. Jared's 'ghost' is the skeleton of a victim that he and Rekha try to identify. When Jensen learns that Jared's team has gone missing, abducted by militants, he goes to Sri Lanka to find Jared, and is helped by Caroline Chikezie (Tamara on SPN). There are flashbacks throughout, consisting mainly of snippets of Jared and Jensen's relationship. Genevieve and Danneel have secondary roles as Jared's friends, and he (and the dogs!) stays with them briefly after he breaks up with Jensen. Everyone gets a reasonably happy ending.
Warnings: Mentions of graphic violence, probably no more than show-level. PTSD. Story very loosely based on the novel "Anil's Ghost".
