"Not when it's this school," Jackson filled in dryly as he turned around. Even nodded at her. Because he could be polite, sparingly. "You can get away with calling it simple self-preservation."

"Imagine life without anything trying to kill you for a day," she said wistfully. "Where you can go entire weeks at a time without turning seven..."

"I'd actually rather just experience it." Which was what he was planning to do, too. "I think two years of imagining it is enough."

"Tell me about it. So where are you off to now?" Aww, she actually cared where he was going.

"Italy," he replied with another nod. "Milan." Because why not, right? "But that's only for a start. I'm planning to travel around for a while."

"I'm so jealous. I haven't been to Italy in like a whole two years." Poor baby. "Plus other places!"

"You'll get there." He even sounded like he meant that, as much as he ever sounded like he meant anything. He just had that feeling about her. And he shrugged a shoulder. "And if you happen to get there while I'm there, you can treat me to coffee for predicting it."

"I'll treat you to two. I should be self-made rich by then," she reasoned.

It was a nice dream, though!

"Good," he said. "Looking forward to that."

This was probably where he should've said something else nice, too.

"Good. And if you're ever in LA, you should definitely look me up. I'm sure I could get us into all the cool parties."

She would not be able to do that. She was going to live in an apartment with Phantom Dennis.

"Actual cool parties, or what Fandom considers cool parties?"

He was kidding. She had good taste.

"You're lucky I know you're joking," she smiled.

"Yeah, guess I am." Look at that agreement. He paused for a moment, before deciding on something. "Want to go grab a coffee before we're free of this place? I have a while before my portal."

He needed to get out of this room before he'd start feeling sentimental.

"Sure. You're treating me this time, though," Cordelia decided.

"Sure," Jackson agreed, after the requisite eye roll. "But only because I'm the one who gets to go straight to Milan from here."

So, he went to pick up his bags, and his jacket, then offered her his arm without hesitation. He was ready to go.
