Dear Livejournal Friends,
Am I dead? Nah. Sick? Nope. Suffering in any way? Nuh-uh. Then why, you may ask, have I not been updating? I've been away from the fabulous world of livejournal my dear friends because I've been BUSY. First I was in GREECE which was more fabulous and amazing then you can even begin to imagine. I learned so much, worked so hard, saw so many beautiful places and things, and met some truly fabulous people. I did the things that most people can only dream about and I'm so grateful and so full of JOY because of it. I got back from Greece (photos can be found on my facebook) last Friday late late late, then worked all day Saturday at Kids City. On Monday, Camp started, and between Monday and Friday, I worked 50 hours. This year I'm primarily working with 8 and 9 year olds which is working out really well for me. I had a blast with the little ones last summer, but this is a nice change of pace. I'm enjoying work, even though it is really, really draining. The only friends I've seen since I've been home are Amy and Hannah, so please don't be sad/mad if I havn't contacted you. I am, however, now open for business. I'm usually pretty tired in the evenings, but I get off at 6 and I'm always up for renting a movie or some other chill activity, and my weekends are totally free and clear. This weekend, I went shopping downtown with Hannah, then went out for Sushi with Ames and Hampst, then we rented a movie and made things out of beads. I'm really trying to take it easy whenever I'm not working this summer, and I'm trying my damndest not to get burnt out. Ahh! I think this is the longest I've ever gone without updating, and I'm sorry dear livejournal for neglecting you. I imagine entries this summer will be scattered, but I'll try and get on from time to time to share fun camp stories. So, I just wanted to let you all know I'M BACK!
XOXO
Kathleen
PS- On the music scene, if you havn't heard the Dixie Chicks new album Taking the Long Way, GET IT. This album isn't as country as a lot of their stuff, so even if you aren't usually a fan of country music, I still way reccomend it. It's a really good rock out CD and, if nothing else, buy it to support a band who I've really come to admire. For those of you who don't know, a few years ago, the Dixie Chicks stood up on a stage in London and told the audience that they were ashamed that George Bush was from Texas (their home state). The band haas faced a lot of contriversy since the statemnet was made, and their new album is being boycotted by a lot of country music fans. Sorry for the schpeil, but our political situation is something I'm really passionate about and it's really important to me to support people in the spotlight who haved the balls to come out and make bold statemts like this, even if it means risking their careers.
I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should
