I grew up with ABOFL, Jeeves and Wooster and Blackadder so Hugh Laurie to me is still this silly posh twat. At first I couldn't even watch House as I detested his American accent, now I'm anxious about a two week hiatus, let alone a summer stop of the show. LOL
I can certainly see why you would see him that way. For me, it was weird going from Dr. House to Bertie Wooster or The Prince Regent. It's hard to reconcile that they are one in the same person because they are so vastly different.
An incredibly talented chap, no matter what character he's portraying.
Dutch but studied English (in England at the time of Blackadder Goes Forth i.e. 1989). I've always been besotted with Stephen Fry but House made me appreciate m'colleague much more. His dramatic range and the way he mixes that with his flawless comedic timing are amazing. I believe comedy is one step up in acting.
Hugh is amazing. I think the reason he plays the role of Dr. House so well is because of his comedic skills. He brings a necessary humor to the character that makes him more endearing than he would otherwise be. I think that anyone else in that role would not have done as good a job as Hugh.
I also love Stephen Fry. Have you seen Stephen lately? He's lost a lot of weight and is all tan from his trip to Mexico and the Sea of Cortez. Looking mighty fine, he is!
I know! My claim to fame is that Stephen Fry follows me on Twitter and that he added me on December 27 from Hugh Laurie's house in LA. How pathetic is that? LOL
Watched the featurette on The Jerk again this afternoon and both KJ and DS said something similar about HL being the only one to play House successfully. We're all so in agreement.

Pathetic? NO! That's actually pretty cool! I haven't asked him to follow me yet. I figure the poor guy probably gets hundreds of requests a day. I don't post very often, and when I do it's usually not interesting to anyone that I don't know.
Nice find!
