Uhm, Okay. Since I have decided I should REALY update my LJ more, here it is.
Yesterday I’ve watched Twilight. And I am in doubt whether this was an hour of my life wasted or it at least provided me with some insight on Teen Movies during this current age. Of course I didn’t really went into this movie totally unbiased, after hearing so many stories from my friends about Kirsten Thomas’ phail and naturally the reason for me watching it: RPattz, so bear with me.
I had already heard about the “Twinkle moment” so I was kinda anticipating it, hoping it would come along before I would have to leave for work. Yes ladies and gentleman, I watched half of it before work (making me lazy for the rest of the day) and the rest after I got home. And I was in luck I needed to do so, cause after RPattz’ Emo-moment about his “the skin of a Killer” I really needed some away time from his Emo gheiness. Truly I was wondering the entire first part of the movie what the hell Bella saw in the dude and why for heaven’s sake he would want something from her. Maybe their mutual depression or lack of life attracted each other.
I also feel the need to comment on both their hairstyles. Is it natural for a couple to have the male tend more to his hair than the female? I know it works this way in the animal kingdom, never thought it would be the same in “Depressia”. Maybe I could do a case study…
Okay onward to the second part. Am I the only one that was kept waiting for the plot to kick in? Of course there’s the whole I-like-you-but-don’t-want-you-near-me-cause-I-might-eat-you thing. But that’s a theme - a starting point as it where - and thus not a plot. And then during the Cullens baseball game (aka my WTF moment) there is actual potential for a plot, and then it dies (literarily) after 20 minutes. Which leaves the story to go back to the aforementioned theme now slightly changed into I-like-you-but-don’t-want-you-to-become-like-me-so-there. Am I also the only one that deems the entire prom thing absolute? As in not necessary?
All in all, the movie wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated, the latter half was actually quite enjoyable in way, mainly because the depressed aura of the main character was lessened somewhat. I feel like the movie is made like a teen novel (surprise!). The movie is layered with short bits and pieces in the form of scenes that have no significant contribution to the (lack of) plot and thus only serve as filling to get the movie to the staggering 118 minutes it has. I seriously think this movie could be at least 30 minutes shorter.
I don’t know whether I can stomach to watch New Moon in theaters. Maybe I should try and watch it where there is at least a break in the middle ^o^
Untill next time! *hugs*
