It has been an unusually social epoch in the life of me!
This evening, Mike and I were hosted by my friends Ben and Lisa, who took us to see a Mariner's Game. A good time (and a tremendous amount of stadium food, alas) was had by all. Ben is such a gentle ironic soul- it's really fun to hang out with him at such events.
Last night, Susan, Justin, Patrick, Jen (and for the first part of it, Karen) and I went to Central Cinema (the little kooky locally owned single screen theatre across the street from my house) and watched (for six dollars a piece) a Patrick Swayze double feature: Dirty Dancing and Roadhouse. There was something genuinely brilliant about the pairing, the singalong tribute to Mr. Swayze was really moving, and the whole thing was so incredibly fun.
On Monday, Mary hosted me for dinner at her home, which was eggplanty and delicious, and we had tea and talked and that was really nice and made my soul happy.
On Sunday, after church, Jen, Patrick, Allen, Mike and a friend of Mike's, Melissa, played our first basketball game of the season in the underdog league, then Mike took me out for "fancy burgers" at our favorite secret burger place, then Susan and i cleaned the pantry.
On Saturday, Mike and I met his mom at Mt. Rainier to go to the Northwest Trek, then did some second hand store shopping for our wedding, then came home and did some additional wedding plans, and watched Pride and Prejudice.
And on the horizon for tomorrow? Dinner at my friend Melissa's!
I am only writing this out because I ave been a hermit for two years, and I sort of forgot how much I enjoy being around people, when i enjoy being around people.
