Dear Dad,
I've passed my Apparating test. Gran says that makes me of age now.
I'd thought that Apparating was the ultimate super power, the ultimate freedom. Apparating allowed you to go wherever you wished without depending on something else. No need for Floo powder and fireplaces. No need for Portkeys or brooms. (You know, I'd always thought broom travel a bit dodgy.)
I hadn't known then that there'd be so many rules governing it. Apparating's difficult, Dad. Extremely difficult. I nearly embedded myself into a fence my first try. Now I know why you preferred brooms.
