I'm working on a new comic (yeah, I know I've been doing it for a while, but I want to get this one right). It's a more story based, humour strip. I'll run the first little bit of a story arc down here, I guess. It makes it easier to get it all in my own head if I write it, plus I wouldn't mind people looking at it
Ben (I'd like to work out a better name for the character, since it's also the name of a good mate of mine) is a guy in his early 20s working in a coffee shop. He's a self confessed man whore at times, due to the first relationship he ever had turning out incredibly badly and ruining his idea of relationships from then on. Unfortunately, he's also still in love with the girl, who cheated on him, and consistently compares every girl he gets involved with to her.
Claire is his roommate. They dated for a little while, worked out that they liked eachother, but not in a romantic way. They ended up being best friends, eventually sharing a place. Claire is bi-curious, not in a sexual way, however, and at the start of the comic goes on a date with Amy, who she sees for a while once she finally gets her head straight with her sexuality. Claire is a university student, and I'm playing around with giving her a part time job.
Amy, Claire's soon to be girlfriend, creates the conflict of the strip. She happens to be the girl that had cheated on Ben. There is conflict, though Ben realises from the start (once he finds out) that he has to get over it for the sake of his friendship, as well as his own mental state.
There's other characters I've already designed, including the co-worker of Ben who has a crush on him, though realises that it would never work out, and the gay best friend of Ben. More to come, though I've got about 8 strips written for this first arc. I'm likely to include events that have happened to myself in the past, like a vehicle being stolen and so on.
In other news, I finally picked up a new job. I still need to hand in my resignation from McShit, which I feel a little guilty about since I'm a really good manager, even though I hate the place, but considering I might have a shot at actually getting my fucking degree finished this semester, two jobs is the stupidest thing I could do.
